too much rhetoric?

Is there too much rhetoric in politics these days? Watching the debates it seems that most responses are based on trying to get the people to agree with you, yet it seems the people are contradictory in their beliefs and also seem to not have enough knowledge and history about the issues at hand.

Anyone else feel this way?

Meh, I just wish we could go back to a simple time when our leaders picked their own clothes, ate food in the same places as "the commoners", and weren't so tied to their political parties/concerned about nothing more than re-election.
I wish our national leaders would take a que from the state leaders in some states(SD has some pretty good representatives) and have a dam backbone and stand for something themselves! I hate politicians whose beliefs are sold to the highest bidder or who doesn't have the strength of character to accept that some people will never agree with them. Never trust a politician who doesn't have enemies!
