Tollgate Information 2009/10

Had my first road ride last weekend to Bone Springs, I got out just before the big wind storm hit. I imagine there are trees down every where now. The club plans to have all gates and warming shelters open December 1st. Grooming will begin then if we have a least 2 feet of snow on the ground.

As noted else where the 4x4 were out in force this weekend and we will be dealing with some ruts until we get more snow. Logging is still going on around Balloon Tree so the road is plowed to a down to a couple of inches. All gates will be opened December 1st. I am not sure if there is going to be enough snow to ride from below the Chalet. Best snow of this weekend was out past Timothy.

Was up today, wanted to get a few miles on the new sled for break in. Some of the trails are groomed. They are rock hard no lubrication for the hifaxes. I had to keep trying to get off the side of the roads to get in the snow. I only rode about 12 miles, we really need new snow. Suposedely will be very cold for the next 5 to 6 days. Don't sound like much on the way for new snow either. Do your snow dances.......

Thanks Good info, We went up and cut fire wood and had our christmas BBQ today at our warning shelter at cathrine creek summit, only about 6" a little more in places. Fluffy except for where the pick-ups drove!! LOL. I Think my son and I will go up tomarrow for a short ride.

It was a cold ride today, as stated above the snow is hard, the groomers are removing trees filling holes and dragging the powderbar but not enough snow to groom. They will head out past Bone Springs and try and cleanup the 4x4 tracks and remove trees to Tigard Canyon Thursday or Friday. Club ride to Bluewood next Saturday those that are experienced riders are welcome (bring gas) a limited amount will be available for purchase at Bone Springs or Bluewood ( more info on this later) ***SNOW***

Thank you, we have been going back and forth about the dates. I kept thinking the 15 of dec. to April 1.

Snowmobilers rescue lost and stranded Jeep driver

From the Tamarack Inn Web site the ride to from Tollgate to Bluewood, how this guy got there I'm not sure.

The Bluewood Ride on Saturday the 12th was the trip of a lifetime for most of the 20 riders that made the trip. Weather conditions, and snow conditions were perfect. With 4 to 8 inches of fresh powder on the ground, and groomed trails all the way to Tiger Canyon, the riding was super. Five miles past Bone Springs, the group came upon a 4X4-moron that drove his jeep out in the middle of nowhere, got stuck, and spent the night wondering if he'd ever get out. The snowmobilers helped him get his rig un-stuck, got him turned around, and two of the riders sacrificed the rest of their ride just to follow him out, ensuring that he got out alive. when he was reported to the Sheriff The riders found out they a missing persons report had been filed and they were looking for him the authorities met him when he finally made it down. Several of the riders decided the trip was a bit too much, and turned back at the "Milk Shakes".... but 11 of the guys made it all the way to the Godman warming shelter. The trip totaled 101 miles round trip, with no accidents and no breakdowns. Everyone had a great time too. If you missed this one, don't miss the next club ride!! Pictures below: click on the picture for a larger view. Pictures were taken by Ken Miles. Special thanks to Glenn Warren for leading the ride. Couldn't have done it without you !!

Polaris 159 & I were the ones that helped get him out, we got him to the top of Tiger. Polaris 159 had to drive it all the way as the kid wasn't confident enough to drive it out himself. He may have been a moron but, the important thing was to get him out safely. Glad you guys made it to Godman, we went as far as Table Rock and then turned back. I don't see the pics though?

Glad to hear he made it out safe. When my brother and I helped him get his rig unstuck and turned it around and drove it to the tiger canyon intersection. When we left him we told him not to go 4-Wheeling by himself and stay off the roads that are closed. The guy was originally from Seattle and was trying to follow his GPS and didn't understand that the roads closed December 1st. We don't think he will be doing that again!
