Togwotee trail grooming and marking, how is it this year?

They did a horrible job last year.
I was just wondering with their new Tucker equipment they received this year if the trails around Togwotee have been better than last years whoops for miles?

Come on guys, somebody knows how the trails are up there, I would like to know too, us oldsters just can't handle the whoops and our wives don't appreciate getting lost in whiteouts anymore. You will all be here someday.

Rode the trails pretty minimal around the lodges, but every trail we were near or watched others on was horrible. I've actually never seen it this bad and they even had the snocats out, but didnt have the drag groomer hooked to them and just seemed to be driven them around. Just my opinion didn't run the trails that much.

Just got back from 6 days out there. Saw a groomer 1 time. Trails were horrible. Fortunately we only use them to get out to off trail ridding. Felt sorry for the touring types hauling their kids around on that crap.

Grooming

Just got back this morning from TOG, don't go there to trail ride. They groom every day, check at the front desk, they have a map of where they're grooming each day. Plan your travels around where they've been. Paths in & out are designated. By the end of the day, all trails close to the lodge are torn up every day.

they have been real good the last couple of ties being up there. they have new grommers and the snow is getting deep so they are getting snow to fill in the bumps on the trails know with this cold weather the will set a and be real smooth

Just got back yesterday...and the trails were soso in the mornings and terrible on the way in..but there was a lot of traffic on the trails so you can't expect them to stay good. Off trail riding was A+++

Agree with Snoclo. There 5 days over New Years. Groomers were out every night. 80% of the trails when ridden were excellent.

Thanks for the input.
I'll be there Jan.24-30 at the lodge.
Because of a slight disability after an accident a few years ago, I don't have the strength to muscle a sled around, and can't afford to get stuck, so my lady and I just ride the trail system, and enjoy being out there.

Thanks for your reports. Happy to hear things are better this season. I was proud to create all kinds of controversy for them last year. LOL.

Our sleds go on Brian's truck Wed., and we leave next Sat. Hope we don't have weather flight cancellations like last year, trip out AND back.
That on top of bad trails, I was about ready to rent a car and drive back.:face-icon-small-dis

It would be a blast to do a shift on one of their groomers, as I am grooming about 52 miles of trail in my home area. Tucker & Mogul Master.

We got back last nite. Landed at MSP 8p.m.
Lots of snow, and around 1ft fresh during the week.
Trails were much better than last year. As someone said, they groom everyday, except Tuesday's. And they post a grooming schedule at the front counter.
HOWEVER: :D
They got behind last week due to bad visibility due to wind, and one Tucker missed a curve and ended up at a 45* angle , on "K", just off the "CD", west end.
I have pics, I'll post later. Why it didn't roll is a miracle. They let it idle for over 2 days at that angle. Sure hope the engine was oiling properly in that position.

So.......... they got behind on grooming. And there was a lot of wind last week as well, so areas drifted over after being groomed.
The last 2 miles into Brooks Lodge was ugly. They claim they are not able to groom that because the new Tuckers w/ rubber v-lug tracks don't have the traction of the old metal cleated tracks. Dunno.

I met one of the groomer drivers, and he's from Princeton,MN. :) He offered me to ride shotgun on a grooming shift, but I declined, being just too tired after a day's riding.
He is on this forum , and after we talked for a while, he asks "are you Snowizard?" I had to laugh!
It wasn't his machine that was stuck.
But I don't know his name on here.

Man, we need a snow dumping around MN for sure.

I met one of the groomer drivers. Nice fellow, "early thirty-ish" , I'd guess, and from Princeton,MN. :) He offered me to ride shotgun on a grooming shift, but I declined, being just too tired after a day's riding.

I talked with the guys working on that stuck Tucker as I rode by, and It wasnt running for 2 days. They said they couldn't get it to start. Do you make this stuff up as you go or pull it out of your backside?
