running a 09 D8 without the update roughly 350 miles. Turbo kit on the way (Thanks SnowJW) wondering if I should have the update done, kit is sitting at the dealer. Should be running 7-10 PSI, so is it worth getting the update with head, pistons and flash. or just get head and pistons and keep the 09 flash which runs great now? Let me know what you think good and bad.

I went with the new head (less compression),new pistons(gets rid of the piston, cylinder wall gap, and rocking of the single ring pistons and went with the superceded 09 flash. I think this is what a lot of guys went with. I don't have lots of experience with turbos but it all seemed to work fine. I went through Justin as well with same sled

get the update done, but dont get the new flash. the new pistons and head work great with boost!

09 turbo

I had a 09 bd pg turbo. Ran great for 1200 miles and then lost the pto side from scuffing. Both pistons were scuffed really badly. Had piston update done. Got reflash also. The sled never ran as good again.
Got the 2010 update and sled would not start warm.

put 09 flash back on still ran very inconsistently. Det light

I say keep it the way it is. The scuffing is not caused by piston dimension. It is the cooling. Fix your cooling and run it.

Unless you have a dealer willing to do the work, the update timeframe is up. I think it ran out July 1st or there-abouts.

if the DET light was still coming on then your dealer or whoever flashed your sled back to 09 did it wrong. the DET light is not activated in the superceded 09 flash. the sensor still works, its just not as sensitive, but the light does not come on until the sled is fully in limp mode at which your check engine light will be on and stay on.

Dealer said I had till middle of november to get it done. Sounds like I will get the update and hold off on the flash. Thanks for all the responses
