To boost or not to boost the Pro ????

The million dollar question and I’m now wondering what your honest thoughts are. I’m looking into a Silber Kit for my 2012 Pro Assault but I’m new to the “turbo world”. I’ve done research on here and spoke with a few others but I’m really looking for more input on the 2012 Silber kit for the Pros.

I already do complete once over on the sled after every trip or every couple times out. I don’t mind tinkering but don’t want to create a monster in which that’s ALL I do. I enjoy heading west and when a guy drives that far, I want to have fun!!!

Here are just some of the things that come to mind,

Honest opinions on whether or not it’s really worth it? (Bang for the buck)
Reliability?
Would you do it again?
How much more maintenance and preventative maintenance involved?
Any other upgrades recommended running with a turbo? (Anti stab, drivers, track, etc.)

One thing that worries me is once a guy puts one on the sled, I think you may be hooked and may need one for the Harley too. :face-icon-small-dis

Any and all thoughts welcome and thanks in advance guys!!!

I was around 2 this weekend they both had issues one ran great most of the day tho. The pro screams with a turbo on it.

I think both were having problems with there tps sensor, I had problems with my stock pros tps the next day also.

I have 2 and the only 2 issues that I have had was the '11 had a bad TPS that took forever to track down, obviously not the kit's fault. The 2nd issue was just this Sunday on my '12, the boost sloenoid took a crap. In both cases, they weren't rideable until fixed. That's why I have 2, but I have always had a backup sled even when stock. The biggest PITA is that there is more to diagnose when there is an issue, but boost is addictive.

the last two sleds ive owned are on boost. I had an 09 dragon with a silber kit on it and i loved it. This year i went to a Boondocker kit on my 2012 assault. I like the boondocker kit more but thats just personal preference. The pro ride chassis screams on boost though!

i would spend the money on a 174x3" conversion and a head for it and call it good, i run turbos in all my sleds and there is no such thing as pull the rope and ride with a turbo!!!i love the na sled with the big track it climbs almost anywhere i need to go and it still a perfectly running sled all the time..just my 02.. since i have had turbos on all my sleds except this one i have now...

You are running the wrong turbo systems or aren't tuning correctly then. Mine and every other turbo sled I ride with are pull and go. A guy let me and some buddies ride his pro with the 174 3" last year at owls head in BC. It felt ok and climbed like a goat, just kept chugging up the hill and didn't give up. I found it felt too long with that track, and my turbo 162 2.5" destroyed it, of course. It wasn't bad, and I did like it, but it was not even in the realm of being able to be compared to a turbo charged sled.

Boost is addictive, you will never look back. go for it!!! Lol

Love my Silber turbo, had him to the install and have had only minor issues occur, nothing that stopped me from riding and were probably my fault not the kit's fault. With that being said I feel that install is a major part of peoples problems, I had justin do the install and would always have somebody who knows what there doing do it. I will never own another sled without boost, it is awesome.

From what I have read and come across I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head. I really seems that most issues stem from the install and something not quite right. My brother in law had a dragon with a turbo installed by Justin himself and no issues either.

I'm very happy with my Silber turbo on my pro. Only hicup was having to figure out the right amount of primary weight for my boost level; it was simply pull and ride after that. If you could even call that a hicup....

My silber has been pretty much pull and go. I fill it with good fuel and dont worry about it. if you lucky you can get your dealer to plug the #s in like mine did and your off and running !I did almost no tuning . I took 3 x as long to do the install and im glad I did.

What are the rough hp#s for a boosted Pro?

Pump
Av
Race

Thats all gonna very on elevation...

Just hit 500 mile mark on my 12 pro, boosted since day one.. its a blast..

I took 3 times the "recomended" install time so i know it was done right..

Dont be so scared of boost, the nice thing of going boosted is you elimate the lean areas that can be found on a stock sled.

Turn up the oiler, and use good gas..

Only thing i do is check over after every ride, becasue theres alot of line running here and there and you just need to check none are rubbing.

I run anywhere from 8-14 lb on straight 100 LL mostly around the 12-14 and have had no problems. At 8-10,000 feet

boost is awesome when it works, but, there will be more wrenching than with a stocker hands down. also boost is hard on piston rings and fuel is more expensive as well. unless you NEED the power, just ride it stock. soon enough they will be coming stock on these sleds. imo

I don't regret turboing mine. Damn thing is a blast. I will say my shoulders have never been this sore from riding before though... There may be a few hiccups, but I've always had hiccups with my sleds. It has been pretty much pull and go once I got a few things figured out. And did I mention they are a blast?! I should add that the issues I had were very minor, and one was completely my fault...
