Oh yeah, forgot about this emergency fix I had to do when my throttle cable broke out in the middle of nowhere. The little barrel end broke off the cable up by the throttle lever. I took one of the little screw on caps off the top of a spare spark plug and crimped it on the cable with my leatherman. Rode the rest of the weekend.....no problems!!!

EW- Do you seriously have a Shamwow? I'm jealous.

try a cotton ball with vaseline mashed into it. it is good for chapped lips and yo can feather a bit of it off and start it with the smallest spark......burns when wet too. wrap in waxed paper for some extra fuel too.

For those of you that railer your sleds with covers:

If you have running boards that have sharp edges or nubbins on them, go to the hardware store and get yourself a set of foam 1" pipe insulation. Cut to length and put them over the edges of your boards. Then put your cover on and the cover will not rub on the board nubbins.....

For those of us that use open two place trailers. I beefed up the stud wall in my garage with 4x4's and mounted a large chunk of angle iron to the wall. Drilled a hole for the ball and now I have a hitch attached to my wall. I can work on sleds and walk on the trailer without it being hooked up to a truck.

I came across a guy in the woods last winter that couldn't get his sled to run. Must have died on the trail and it seemed like he had been fighting with it for awhile. Pulled the plug wires and saw that the screw on top was missing on one plug. The sled would run erratic at best so seeing that he was a smoker I asked him for the tinfoil backed wrapper out of his pack of cigarettes. Folded it up so the foil was on both sides then crammed it into the spark plug boot. Started up the sled and it ran like a charm.

PCDOC,,, good idea, for a quicker method though I have used 2 jack stands under the rear of the trailer. Put them under the frame rails, works real well.

Try this one next time your stuck with no one to pull on your ski: Wedge your glove in the throttle so the track is just barely spinning. Jump off and pull on your ski. Surprisingly it ussually walks out of the hole your stuck in. Just get back on quickly and get your glove outa there.

This reminded me of a fix we had to do because my friend lost the rubber pad between the spindle and the ski saddle on his powder pro skis. Everytime the skies would come off the ground the tip would fall under its own weight and stick into the snow. After the second time he went over the bars we had to figure a better option. I had always carried a small section of old belt. I blew a belt once and had a hard time holding the secondary apart while it cleaned out the mess so I just threw that in to press the sheeves apart. Well anyway we just notched the belt and installed it under the spindle and got home.
