Timbersled Setup

I put a Timbersled skid on my Impulse Nytro last year. I never got much time to tune any on it. I have setup according to Timbersleds recommondations for 280hp (3/4 shim on bott itom 1/2 on top, 55psi front shock 140psi rear, 8th hole using optional end hole on limiter strap.)

I run 16psi boost, The sled seems to have a lot of ski pressure the only time it wants to come up at all is climbing really steep. I would like the skis to lift about 6-12" and stay there (if that's possible) to make it easier to throw around in the trees or cat walk a technical climb.

Anyone know the best place to start? I was thinking loosening up the limiter strap a couple holes and trying it? Does playing with the shock presssures really make much difference?

Thanks
Mike

I like them to come up on takeoff just like you explained. On my kmod I loosened up the limiters, put more pressure in the front shock and now it works great.

How much looser did you go with your limiter? I think I know this, but adding pressure in the front shock and lowering the rear equals more transfer?

You could switch to 1/2" instead of the 3/4" shim and try the 5th hole. I think thats where I have mine set. May not be enough lift for you but its a good start.

Limiters

I hve the same question but when I called Timbersled they were leary of me loosening the limiters up. I believe you need like 11" vertical from the bottome of the slide rails to the center of the front mounting hole to keep the track from stabbing at full power (measurements taken with skid on the bench, your install instructions will reference the measurement for clarity).. I'm going to go to 1/4" shim on the bottom and mess with the shock pressures..

I have 1/2" on the bottom, 1/4" on the top
50psi front shock, 140psi rear.

Its like riding a grader on the trail and in the trees...

try less pressure in rear shock and more in front. which holes are you running in the rails for the shock mounts. Make sure you don't have the rear of the sled sitting to high (some aftermarket brackets set everything to high), tunnel behind seat should set at 3-4 degrees.
