Thunder Racing engines..twin screw blower...any info?

last I heard the apex wasnt going into any production and that the nytro was a maybe???

Screw the blower and get a turbo, lol. Im leary of businesses that never release a product but promise the world with claims of how well they work but no one ever see's.

I hope another SC hits the market soon. There is a great selection of Turbos and only one for a SC and they can't seem to get their act together.

Agree 100%. Can't get a system built and they have been working on it for 3 years. Wondering how quick customer support and service would be???

I know there's one from MPI, but I was just reading about one from Hartman. I sure would like to ride one!! The lower under-hood temps would be a bonus over the hair dryers.

a twin screw SC would be pretty sweet..

only issue I see w/ SC is weight balance.. with a turbo you get that weight centralized or moved back on the tunnel.

Agreed!!

I too wondered about the weight of their set up....could be a concern. I agree with two others also, why take so long to release a product ...seems fishy really? I would love to see an alternative to MPI crap they call bolt on dependable, never seen anyone with a SC from MPI that was nothing but a headache! You'd think they'd get there shiz together eventually but since everyone accepts half azz work from them they won't change a thing! Another company with a solid, dependable product would put MPI out of business or they'd have to develope a quality kit that was as advertised dependable.

Know anything about Hartman??

for you guys riding the sleds why do you prefer a supercharger that is using motor hp to operate instead of a turbo which is more effiecent by using a wasted energy. is there a difference in throttle response over a properly set up turbo?

Both Hartman and Alan at Timbersled do S/C install. They take the base MPI kit and complete it (blow off valve, different controller, etc...).

The best turbo's have definitely come a long way in eliminating lag, but still NOTHING like a well set up S/C when it comes to throttle response and bottom end.

On the other hand, a S/C cant come close to the overall power of the turbo, especially the top end.

Different strokes for different folks!! :D

You just answered your own question. Why do you think its fishy that we chose to build a kit that you as a consumer don't have to do our r&d work for us. We don't have to sell 1 supercharger to stay in business so we chose not to sell something that I wouldn't buy myself. For all that have been patiently waiting we should have some exciting news on the Nytro soon. We have a working prototype. For those of you that want to see what we are capable of doing just click on the link. It's not fishy, it's just good business.

Thanks Bill

Fishy

What I was implying was it's been three years and now you abandon the Apex version to start R&D on a Nytro, Good business would be to finish that design you have so much time and money into and use the revenue for the Nytro version expenses. It's been this long on the Apex and nothing to show for it, "that us consumers can buy". So you think the Nytro will be the answer to the time problems, I hope your right because like I ALSO said I would love to have another option to try. It would be good for the business to have competition in the SC segment like the turbo's. Not trying to offend just stating the obvious. To clarify, your saying there will not be an Apex kit ever available because your not satified, can we ask why?

Simple economics. There is nothing wrong with the Apex kit we prototyped. It was the fact that production costs would not allow us to be competitively priced. We have proven that we not only can hang with the turbos, we can beat them. But this has been a long learning curve. Look at it from my side. I had a supercharger on my 03 RX-1 about the same time MPI came out with theirs. He is making a grip of money, I'm just spending mine. But it's so we can produce a better product. We haven't abandoned the Apex we are working on redesigning it to be more cost efficient to produce. We learned a lot on the Nytro that we can move over to the Apex.

Thanks for the answers

Well thank you for replying with solid information and not being offended over my comments. I'm glad to hear your stil trying to make this a kit we can buy wether it's for the Apex or Nytro. Is there any time frame on the future more economical design your referring to? I've watched the You tube video's and I'm wondering what you've done with the kits you've made thus far, is it possible to buy one of them in the future?
