THUNDER MOUNTAIN LODGE SNOW REPORT

Mesa got hit with about 12-16" last night and it is still snowing. Hard to tell accurate amounts as the wind was blowing like crazy. There should be 4-6' drifts out in the back country. There will be a few stucks this weekend! Great base snow.

Are you going to go out riding saturday Mark? Terry and myself will be coming up bright and early saturday. Do you know the ice thickness on those lakes yet?

No, no riding for me yet. Have to be in the Midwest the next couple weeks. Should be back by Xmas. I have not been on the lakes. Appear to be frozen and they "SHOULD" be safe but I would give them a couple more weeks to be sure. Remember sleds skip water very easily, so if you do encounter any water just cruise across, really not a big deal if you don't try and stop.

I was ice fishing last Saturday up there. Ice ranges from 1" to 12". Highly variable. With all this new snow, expect a deep slush layer and hidden thin spots. I would excercise extreme caution on the lakes for a week or two as Mark indicated. Remember, the bigger the lake, the longer it takes to freeze and thus, thinner the ice. Be careful!
