Throw me a clutching combo for 8-10k feet

Yes I know there is a search function. If it disturbs you to your core that I would be so bold to ask such a question when there are "Thousands of threads out there" find another forum. I ride 8-10k feet, and am having problems pulling rpm. Right now I'm down to 7600 on a hard climb. I'm bone stock clutching with 10-60's. It might be my belt, but it looks perfectly fine yet. Anyone have a good combo for me?

I'll take a stab at it..how about a slp blue/pink spring, heel heavy weights(I like mtxs), add a 60/40/.36 helix, stock sec spring, and a couple delrin washers.....if its not snappy enough off idle, use a slp green/pink spring up frt....shoot for 8000-8100 on the memory on a steep climb and you should be good.....

We are running 10-60's, Blue/Pink SLP primary spring, Black/Purlple secondary. Pulling 8-8100 all day long in the fresh.

BC..try a heel heavy weight...the poo's need that extra mass in the midrange....I like the slp mtx's because they tighten the belt to sheive clearence at the same time which also helps a lot...

At Tog right now with 2012 pro 8 155, running 10-60's black primary and black/purple secondary, everything else is stock and it pulls 8150 all day long.

I was actually going to try the MTX's this time, forgot to get them coming and ended up picking up the stockers on my way out of town. Will most likely be riding up high for the rest of the season so I need to get them coming. Thanks!

I agree with AKSNOWRIDER the MTX's are the best set for the Pro.
I run 68's with no rivets and pink blue in 2011.
2012 uses 68's with alum. rivet in lower hole and pink blue @ 8-10.
Both are 155's, 2012 is stronger than the 11.

Dalton's

Anyone have any experience with the Dalton adjustable weights on their Pro 800?

I ride the Snowies...8-10K

I have 60-40.40 Helix from Carl's Cycle
Gold Black Spring w/ SLP shim
Team Bright Green Spring in Primary
10-60's

I will be going to 10-62's this weekend but my sled is not stock so I am over reving with 60's. MY guess is 10-60's would be perfect for you.

If I were you, I would call Carl's and do exactly what they say. My sled flat rips. Once you have the stock wt dialed in, then you can buy and aftermarket wt with confidence because you can tell SLP or MDS what you were running for stock wts and what rpm you were seeing. Carl's perfers Belly Buster wts and no shimming is required with these wts.

I have heard good things with MTX and MDS wts but have yet to try them.

10-58's with Orange 165/310 TEAM primary. Everything else stock in my 11' Assault. I rarely ride below 10k and pull 8200 in the deep and steep. Try it out, I think you'll like that setup and its a cheap fix to gain some R's. Ideally you would want to cut a set of 10-60's down to 59's

quick and easy is 58 gram weights. Next would be keep the 60's and try a 58/40.36 helix. But it could be a number of things. Your getting some miles on now so clutch's could be taken off and cleaned and checked out. Belt measured for wear. Exhaust valves cleaned? The aftermarket can is in the garbage right? You really need your Uncle and his box of clutch goodies and a couple days to play!!

AK, this is a great point. The belt to sheave clearance should be .010" to.020". SLP claims the MTX weights tighten up the clearance because of their "higher" heel height. This is why SLP includes spider shims. On my Pro, I compared the MTX and stock weights and could easily see the difference in heel height. That being said, when I installed the MTX weights, I had .012 belt to sheave clearance with a new belt. This told me that the factory clearance was easily .040" to .050", which is way, way out of spec. I also installed MTX weights in a buddy's '12 Pro with the same findings.

What is the MTX to stock weight difference? Something like you add 2 grams to the MTX? So 10-60's would be 62 MTX? Is that right?

mdsclutching.com you won't be disappointed...

$240? Ouch!

Bugito, a buddy of mine is running 10-64's on his '12 Pro with PA head and 19/46 gearing. I have a PA head and run 68 gram MTX's with 2g in the middle and 2g in the tip (72g total). Same riding elevations, same gearing, 8 grams heavier.

I put in MTX and it made no difference, comparing to buddies sled with and without. perhaps different snow might have shown a difference. so I returned them for stock.

7600 is low rpm for 10-60's. try 10-58's, but if that doesn't do it i'd be looking at valves or broken spring etc.

Slp says to start with 4 grams heavier on the MTX weight compared to the stock Polaris weights. So if you have 10-60 you should start with 64g MTX weights. I actually found that the SLP MTX 65g wieghts with no rivets in them weigh 64 grams.

I have been using 10-60s for 8-10,000. Now that I just put a 13.6 PA head on it I am gonna run 65g MTX weights with 2g in the belly and 1 in the tip to start and see where that gets me for RPM. Heading West on thursday to try out the head and weights. I also have the SLP blue/pink spring. And the black/purple in the secondary with 1 delrin washer.

Talked to to SLP last week to send me up the MTXs. I also thought the MTXs were running 4grams heavier than stock. They told me 68s with no rivits. I went with them along with the blue/pink primary, black/red secondary along with a delrin on a stock helix. I was a little nervous about that heavy of a weight but it pulled 8000 all day. That was up around 8800-10000ft. was very happy with this set up. this was on a 2011 Pro
