Throttle Group

So I have always wanted to try this but I have a 2012 pro and cant without spending money, so I'm looking to see if anyone has tried this. I want to try to run my throttle "treadway" style and have it flipped over so I pull the throttle with my index and middle finger instead of the regular thumb.
I was down in Mexico recently and thats how the throttle is set on the wave runners down there and it felt pretty comfy. Just wondering if anyone uses the throttle that way and if it poses any pros or cons.

Thanks

I would not like it this way as i always get slapped with branches on the hands and that could give the extra oomph youre not looking for handguards could possibly solve this

i flipped mine around, i would advise trimming it back a bit, i cut about 1/2 inch off mine if not more so i dont need to extend my middle finger to run it,
i would never ride with it any other way, my hand actually fully grabs the bar, i cant ride a sled hard with one hand in full grab and one in half grab, it just does not make sense to me how this is the standard for all snowmobiles.

i would advise running hand guards to protect against treelimbs hitting it, it can also get snow in it slightly easyer with it flipped out front, but i have around 500 miles on mine setup for my single trigger finger and its awesome to me. index on the left runs the brake, index on the right runs the throttle, its awesome.

i would also run a tether. whats this talk about cost? its a free mod and takes minutes to do. unbolt the part of your handlebars and slide the cable around so its not binding at all.

Do you have any pictures of your index finger "trigger" throttle?
I've always thought about this, since I also run old Kawasaki "stand-up" jet skis with a single finger throttle.

I only run my weed wacker that way, never a sled due to the trees.

Been running this way since day two of snowmobiling. More control, better hanging on dropping/ jumping. Seems like a no brainer to me, but old habits die hard. I'm a moto guy and the thumb trigger made no sense unless I was on a 4-wheel couch where sitting is the correct riding position- no offense guys and gals. I have much respect for all that can ride the way they do (better than me in most cases) with only slight hand contact with the bars and grip on the right side :face-icon-small-win That just doesn't work for me!

P.S. The '13 makes this "roll over" much easier than all my past sleds. Just be sure and free up some slack for the hand warmers so as to not yank the wires out. You'll also need to undo the cable and move to the front of the bars. Hand guards help keep snow out of the cable area also when in deep pow. Never had a problem with branches with or without guards though.

I could never flip the throttle to the front because of the trees we ride. It seems that every weekend, I end up in a spot where the tree is pressing the brake, I'd hate for that to be WFO on the throttle. No bueno.

Trees are not an issue if you have good hand guards. Mine attach to the bar ends and the inner side of the bars, if I hit a tree hard enough to push the throttle, it will be the least of my problems.
