Thoughts and Prayers for my father

Know what you're going through. Lost my dad to cancer few years ago, it was one of the hardest things in my life to watch happen. Watched a 230lb man die, at 140lbs over a 9 month period. My Mom just beat breast cancer this past year. Can't even begin to tell ya, how much I hate that sh!t!! Hope he pulls through, cherrish the time you have right now with him........

Heart felt prayers going out to you and your Father as well as the rest of your family. Say the things to your Father that need to be said. You will never regret saying them, but you will regret not saying them. Good on you to post this to remind us all of what is really important in our world.

Lost my dad 5 years ago this coming February, not a day goes by that something does not remind me of him, it get's easier with time, hope you get to make that ride with yours, I will be thinking of you and praying for your dad.

Monte;we are sorry to hear that your Dad is having to fight cancer again. It seems everything was going so well for him and your Mom. I am glad that they live so close to you and your sister now. Your dad is so deserving of a second chance. He has to be one of the best parents anyone could have. Knowing you personally; I can see alot of your Dad in you. Keep in mind; good things happen to good people and he should make it through this again. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

I just want to say thank you to all of you for your prayers. Although I don't know all of you personally, I often times have considered you all friends. I know every day is a struggle for our family to keep our spirits high. And knowing that you are all there really does help. It may sound odd, but it's nice knowing you don't always have to go through something alone. I plan on spending the day at the hospital. He has always enjoyed football, I just hope I can get him to watch.
I'm also going to print out this thread. Not so much for him, but I think it would really help my mother and sister as well. I know It has really helped to put a smile on my face this morning. My mother informed me last night that my uncle will be having open heart surgery next week. He has always been my favorite uncle. He only lives a few blocks from Bob's Cycle and likes to stop in and chat and shop for his grand kid's. It sounds like a tough surgery, but he should make it through all right. I think this is one Xmas that everyone in our family is really going to truly be thankful to be with our loved ones.
And for all of you that have experienced loss, my heart goes out to you and yours as well. Sometimes we need a little reminder just how precious life can be. Even in our own lives we often live just day to day. Always thinking there will be another one. Today lets try to smile a bit more. And always be thankful for the time spent.

Its tough times like this that make us realize how helpful and important support from good family and friends is. Regardless of the outcome, this experience will make your family closer and stronger.

On a side note, when dad got sick, my sister made a blog for him at http://caringbridge.org/. This was very helpful to let many family and friends know how dad was going. It really saved us a lot of telephone time repeating the same information to a bunch of people. It was also very speciel for dad to read everyones comments in the guestbook section.

Again, I hope and pray your father beats down this cancer and has many more years of good health. Sounds like he has a great family and much support. :beer;

"NO man is an island" those words pretty well say it all. My heart goes out to you and your family. We have all been touched by losses and struggles that seem over-whelming and tear your heart out. It seems like all the little things we worry about take a back seat when something like this comes along. Family and friends should always be cherished above all else. Give your dad and mom a hug from the rest of us.

so sad to hear monte, best wishes to you and your family, prayers coming for your dad........:heart:

A very big heartfelt thanks to all of you again this holiday season. This is the best start to our day to know people care. And my thoughts and prayers continue to go out to those of you who have experienced loss or are experiencing hard times as well.
My father seemed in better spirits yesterday. So I think all of your prayers may be working. Thank you. We watched the Vikings barely pull out a win. We even got him to laugh a little. The goal right now is to keep him fighting. He needs to regain his strength from the surgery quickly if he is to undergo chemotherapy. I can tell he feels helpless. It's hard to see him like that. I know many of you have seen your loved ones in the same position. I wish I could give my strength to him.

Very Sorry to Hear Monte. I've been there. It's great that your kids got to have him close to make more memories. And that you are closer now as well. Mine never new him. Best wishes to all of you. Considering the value in those kind of family relationships, there has to more to come somehow. I hope you all find comfort in it somehow if it comes to that. Thank you for sharing and for making such a positive message out of it for all of us. Merry Christmas.

Man Monte, I don't know what to say. good luck man, and keep your spirits up. Just remember, if you feel like you need to stay strong for your family, you can always come on here and blubber...we'll be strong for you!

that's funny you got him to watch the vikes, hell that could almost be as bad as recovering from surgery.

We'll be praying for you guys down here in Plainview.
