Unrivaled Flotation
To me the best thing about this sled is it's ability to stay on top of the snow. Our last trip out we were in some deep powder and another group was having a lot of trouble getting out at the end of a long day. They couldn't make it through the tight trenched out trail so I had to help them break a newer easier trail or who know if they would have made it out. It was getting late. Anyway I kept breaking trail for them. Even made a few trips up and back through tight trees up hill in deep soft waist deep powder with no problems. I made it through easily the first time but asked them to let me make one more round trip just to pack it down better and make it wider so they could keep their momentum since they were having so much trouble. I was surprised that I didn't even really trench it out when I broke trail myself. I was mostly surprised though that they would still fall through places I made it easily through and had packed a wide trail for them. When I would go up to help them I was surprised to find that I hadn't really packed it down much.
With both groups making our way out, we also kept getting traffic jams in spots where the trail was a tight one laner through the trees at the bottom of the deep canyons. I started watching all the tracks of everyone as they would make it through the worst part where everyone tended to trench down. There was a lot of trenching going on. To my amazement when I would watch mine it wouldn't hardly trench at all but just pull its way along, even when I would have to stop going uphill and start again. I was really surprised by the difference when I focused on it. The flotation on this thing is really something. Even when you lose a little momentum you can somehow keep going and usually get it back. Even if you don't get your momentum back, this thing just keeps going. The flotation of this sled really is noticeable. I continue to be amazed by it.
