This may sound bad ...

there are dots on your key. I think it goes up to 5 dot. If you have friends with Polaris' you might be able to find a key that works. Then call a dealer and say you need "x" dot key. Otherwise you can use your buddy's key that works (if you can find one) and push the key in just barely enough to turn the ignition then remove the key.

LOL, he lost his keys, that's why we have this thread. Hard to count the dots in that situation, no?

theres also the trick of using one key for two machines if they use the same key type.

start sled one, quickly turn off key switch pull key out about halfway, then turn key back to on position while pulling it out of the ignition. Sled will now be permanently in key on position.

A good trick when you lose a key in the snow, saves you some hassle of removing connectors

If no test key is available you need to remove the ignition and check the back/side for a stamped letter...A-E. The letters correspond with the dots on the keys.
If Im not mistaken the parts listing disc names keys by letter not dots... eg: E key, D key, etc

So i bought my pro rmk a few months ago and have only gotten 1 ride outta her . On my way back from that ride i must of lost my key in the process . Now i live in canada but keep my sled at a buddies place in the states . I called my local dealer explaining the story , i have all the receipts and papers , he told me i needed to bring the sled into the shop . The problem there is i would prefer not to pay the tax on the sled just yet as i am tight for cash at the moment . So my question here is , is there anyway on a 2011 pro rmk to bypass the key ? It would only be a temparary thing as i do plan on bringing it home very soon .

not sure about the 2012 but on my 2010 switchback i just unplug the socket on the back side og the key switch and then just use the kill switch. polaris only has 5 keys and its been like that for many of years but i'm not sure how to tell which one you had

My 2012 came with a bag of all the paper work and stuff. There is an extra key in the bag. It looks like a regular key, it doesn't have the molded plastic on it.

All of ours had the spare key on a ring with the original, but it's a possibility.

key

I bent mine and replaced it with one I had on a self from a 90's poo and it worked. I didn't know the dots matched just that it work

Cat

Do you guys know if ignition is the same for 1m cats (04 mtn cat EFI 159) ? Can I just unplug, or do I need to loop? Couldn't find any posts in that forum. Thanks !
