This may sound bad ...

So i bought my pro rmk a few months ago and have only gotten 1 ride outta her . On my way back from that ride i must of lost my key in the process . Now i live in canada but keep my sled at a buddies place in the states . I called my local dealer explaining the story , i have all the receipts and papers , he told me i needed to bring the sled into the shop . The problem there is i would prefer not to pay the tax on the sled just yet as i am tight for cash at the moment . So my question here is , is there anyway on a 2011 pro rmk to bypass the key ? It would only be a temparary thing as i do plan on bringing it home very soon .

From what I understand Polaris only uses 4 keys. My pro and my buddies both use the same key. Call the place you bought it and see if they can get you a key.

The key system is a joke on the Polaris. I think you can just unplug the connector on the back and the sled will start as well.

X2 on the bold i believe you can just unplug it from the back.

there are dots on your key. I think it goes up to 5 dot. If you have friends with Polaris' you might be able to find a key that works. Then call a dealer and say you need "x" dot key. Otherwise you can use your buddy's key that works (if you can find one) and push the key in just barely enough to turn the ignition then remove the key.

Yes the key system is a Joke on Polaris but I'd rather have 5 common keys than have to fight a tether with a chip in it, plus those are expensive.

But lets say he does not have the same key as mine ...

I can always disconect the wiring of the key as stated above and just use the kill switch as my primary on/off for until i go to the dealer , correct ?

Yea thats how it used to work anyway. I haven't had to do that to a polaris is a long time so I'm not positive thats how it still is. If it works, awesome, I just wouldnt make that my permanent solution.

takes 10 min with the computer. i have had it done a few times and you can make 1 tether work on more than one sled. my buddy and his dad have 3 keys that work on both sleds.

cool.

I was just saying it was expensive cuz it cost my roommate $50 to get a new tether for his sled (Skidoo 440 MXZX). if its cheaper now, awesome. Doesnt really pertain to the topic of this thread anyway. sorry I mentioned it.

:focus:

Lol thats the problem i cant try until i get to my sled . My sled is 2 hrs away haha. Anybody else wanna try it . Unless u kno for sure it works ?

2 hours?? I the sleddin business you cry about 2 hours?? Man up go git'r!!

It definitely will work. I know because if you forget to plug the harness back in after reinstalling the hood (which I have), it'll fire right up and no dash lights which is where the key wires are:face-icon-small-win
