Dunno, I believe that people can and do change, but the time he served may or may not (looks like the latter) be enough based on his history during incarceration.

Maybe that's what he needs is a transition between prison and teh real world.

But realistically, what /do/ you do with people like that... He served his sentence. Now what? Kudos to that pastor, takes guts and a lot of trust to make a move like that.
