Thinking of making the change

Hey all, as you can tell by my screen name I ride a doo. An 09 XP that I have hopped up nicely and absolutely love in all conditions and terrain. I will be buying a used Apex or Nytro this spring and throwing a turbo kit on it. I have thought of doing the Turbo on my doo but I figure I've got to go 4 stroke sooner or later and besides I love the way my XP is set up and it is very reliable as well, I don't want to mess with that. I have some questions I hope you guys can help me with and I guess the best info is going to be about the Alpine kits as they are 20 min from my house and their turbo guy is 1 min from my house (buddy of mine). I am looking for input from other customers points of view.

What kind of life expectancy have people noticed from their turbo chargers? Does the jarring and impact from agressive riding really affect the life of the component?

Over all impressed with your turbo kits? Any areas for improvements?

Is it pretty much turn key or does anybody find they need to tinker every ride out? Tinkering isn't a problem as I love working on sleds anyway but I am wondering for the most part, just little adjustments here and there or more finicky?

Fuel, whats everyone running at what PSI?

Thanks in advance in helping on my journey back from the darkside LOL!! Should I keep my doo as a back up?

sounds like a no brainer to me.. if alpine is that close.. alpine t-nytro and turn up the boost... they make awsome stuff(watch the boost movies) i cant speak personally about them, just dont seem to see a whole lot of alpine question threads.. which is good news for most i think!

as far as fuel, coming off an XP straight pump will keep you happy for a WHILE... its nuts, i came off the power of a 1000 Doo and now 10/11# scares the crap out of me. thats on 91 only. and theres room to play with it.

i ride a alpine have for 6 year a tvec befor now a nytro.there stuff flat out works & works well, all & i mean all turbo kits will have issues sooner or later.if the install was done well to begin with problems will be minimal but the heat & stress of that much hp will cause little problems over time.mostly just the basic stuff checking for leaks or broken parts every few rides will keep problem to a minimum.as for life expectancy if you run the right fuel lots of guys with 10000+km on there turbo sleds.fuel anything above 10lbs start mixing c12 50/50 up to17lbs,stock non built motor dont go above 18lbs.oh being rough on them wont hurt them i jump my sleds allot no probs.:beer;

Yeah I agree with you Ski-doo, I rode my buddies Turbo RX1 and it scared the crap out of me, pure adrenalin rush, I loved it!! So the turbo charger its self is quite a durable component also? I am assuming the 10000 KM is on the same un-rebuilt turbo charger.

turbo cars run them for 100's of thousands of miles.. a few miles on a sled aint much... unless you have a retarted home brew setup that will cause bad compressor surge, but with a well tested reliable kit like Alpine;s, the only thing you should be replacing is your shorts after you crap yourself every ride!

Alpine is right on your doorstep and your buddy so you should have seen enough already. I have a different brand but boost is still boost. I have ran 12-13lbs 0n 91 octane at 2-8k and 16-17lbs on 100 octane at the same elevations on several sleds since 2005 with stock motors and lowered compression. I see guys with modded 2 strokes having way more issues than I ever deal with. The only tinkering I do is adjusting my helix angle and the odd click on the boost controller up or down for fine tuning.

It is Mr. Brandon. You should of heard all the flack I was getting from the Yammy riders when I sunk $5000 into my doo this year LOL!! I am going with the Alpine kit and thanks for all your feed back guys I appreciate it. If you guys are ever down in the Revy Shuswap area give us a shout and lets hook up for a burn. I may even get into a turbo Yammy on the 19th when I return to Canada so I can keep up with you guys and crap the hell outta my pants too LOL!!!

Brandons a good kid.Hell of a good worker.I have nothing but respect for the Alpine Boys.They always have gone the extra mile for me and my uncle.Tell Brandon Mark and Dwayne say hi.

Dean and the boys at Alpine are great. I run an mcx turbo wich is great but if your from salmon arm your crazy not to go alpine. everyone I ride with is either alpine or impulse and I say great things about both! Both the shops ride for real and test there own products! the fact that these two shops are out here riding all the time like they are seals the deal for me!

Will DOO Turbo Monster. All you guys are giving me the bug here and I'm really considering trading in my beloved DOO! We'll have to see I guess when I'm back home. Let it snow!!!

I just switched from a 800 Cat on nitrous to a turbo Apex and I can tell you I'm never going back. The power from the turbo at elevation more then makes up for the extra weight. Make the switch and you won't be sorry.
