Thinking about switching to a Pro Rmk

Hello all
I currently ride a pro climb M8
I am looking for your input.
Speciflly a 2013 retro
Thx

The best advice I was given I go ride one. Doesn't matter what everybody else says. It's what it feels like to you that's important

I'm in the same boat.

I recently sold my 2010 Summit Everest and picked up a 2013 Pro RMK with 250 miles. Have never ridden a Pro but after hearing so many good things about them, I figured I would give it a try. I have heard many things about how easy and effortless they are to ride, and I'm really looking forward to that. Hoping to not be as sore after the first day of the trips as usual :face-icon-small-ton

The AC guys will flame me for this but I would be surprised if you notice any power difference. The reason is that the Pro does so well at getting up on snow and staying there. My D8 was setup really well and would have waxed my Pro in stock form in a drag race. But it wouldn't hold a candle to it on a side hill or hill climb. There is a saying that there is no replacement for displacement. In the snowmobile world I think the correct statement is there is no replacement for light weight complacent (I just made that up, hopefully it makes sense).

Have you ridden the IQ chassis? I still ride a one but occasionally get out on a friends pro and the rmk's we have at work. the comparison i draw is that it's more of a finesse machine than a muscle it around machine. don't get me wrong, the iq was a huge advancement from the edge and is still a relevant machine today but the newer rmk's or pros just hold a better line take rider inputs easier. they feel tippy to those coming off harder to maneuver sleds. i come home tired off the pro but nothing like when i ride my sled or other brands (fwiw, i haven't been on the doo articulating track).

run the vin at your local dealer to see if the driveline updates have been taken care of.

I just said screw it and bought one having been a cat guy for the 14 years prior. Don't regret that at all. It's just too easy and so much fun to ride. Love my 13!!

Thx guys
I notice that not one person has said anything about engine failures
That is reassuring. I have rode the iq and spent a small amount of time on a pro
I don't have a problem with cat just thinking about something new

I switched from a proclimb to a 14 pro last year and would never look back. Power wise it feels really strong for being "so underpowered". Drag racing on the trail (yes trail) the XM and the cat do not outrun me. I cannot outrun them either and I am only 180lbs in gear where they are 200+. The pro really really shines when the snow gets deep either power or heavy snow. It will take you about 500 miles after coming off the cat to get the pro dialed in and feel really comfortable with it. If you are a big guy or ride at high elevation you might miss a little suzuki power.

Doesn't seem to be as big of a problem on the '13 and 14's. '11 & '12 still had some mentions on the sites but not near as many as the dragon 800's. Sadly I've been waiting until a polaris 800 could make it a few years without seeing significant engine problems before upgrading mine. Either this season or next, i'll probably jump on something similar to the mountainhorse RMK. I'm really liking all the customization and increased reliability that polaris has come out with recently.

It's hard to switch brands.

To be more comfortable, carefully box all the green stuff (no crying now, tell yourself it's maybe not forever), label it according to resale value (just in case!??) and put it in a hidden spot (to be fair to the new sled, remember it is just coming into a new home too and to help suppress your natural feelings).

Give the sled a chance just as it comes. Use a bit more oil (they all love oil). Let it run and don't force your insecurities on it. Take the time to appreciate the thoroughbred chassis and things it will teach you.

If the sled and you have bonded (you never know, it might not work out, s**t happens) and the miles roll up, you will start to appreciate the quality components and very impressive design-engineering that allowed such a lightweight yet strong package to come to life.

Then and only then will you realize what you have been missing. Then you can discuss improvements with the sled if you both want.
Then find those boxes (it'll be easy for you to sell now except for finding a buyer since it seems like the whole world now rides a Pro) but spend a little time explaining your past to your sled first. You don't want to make it complicated, right!??

That's my best advise for you Dunatyk lol. Buy it. Ride it. Ignore what you hear and make your own opinion after time.
IMO you'll be able to ride or sell this chassis for another 10yrs.

I had a 2013 Proclimb M8 153.
I am now on a Pro, sold the Proclimb.

I test rode the Pro, but wasn’t really convinced. Then I spent the day riding one with the Polaris rep. After that day, I bought the Pro.

The Proclimb definitely seemed to have more power, it “hit” differently. The Pro seems more “linear”. However, in a drag race with the 2 sleds side by side, we were about even.

The pro (for me) is so much easier to ride than the Proclimb was. Granted, lots has to do with the ability of the rider, but I can go places, pick lines and ride them where on the Proclimb I could not.

I have no regrets

We had two 2011 800 Pro Rmk's and now we have a 2013 and a 2014 800 Pro RMK. Other than self inflicted problems, we have had good luck with our sleds.
We have a die hard Cat rider in our group and he is going to Polaris this year. He want's the Pro RMK. $.02

came off a '10 m8. ill say i did notice a power drop, buuuuuut, the chassis is soooooooo much better. i rarely get stuck where i used too. it seriously has brought the game up
