Thinkin about going to college at boulder, places to ride?

I'm seriously thinking about going to college at boulder. I have been riding Michigan my whole life and would love the opportunity to ride the mountains and deep powder while in college. In Michigan, the closest place to ride for me is a 3 hour drive. Are there any great places to ride (offtrail obviously) or how far of a drive is it to hit the sweet spots. Any info would be great.

btw i'm new here and hopefully looking forward to meet some great people.

There are a ton of great peeps here. Just head to the Snow Show and meet everybody.

Why are you wanting to go to CU, don't you know that they only allow left wing extremists there?;);)

Oh, your drive to any of the Great Spots will be roughly 2 hours in any direction. Ski traffic on I70, long drive to the Snowies and a Long drive to where the SoCO crew hangs out.

I got my degree at CU and loved it!
Its a wonderfull school, and the recreational opportunities are LIMITLESS around boulder!!

I left California to go to school there and ended up staying for 17 years!

Another Buff alum here. Human-powered recreational activities in and near Boulder are extraordinary. Petroleum-fueled recreation is another story. You might also check out Colorado State University, likely a better fit for the power-sports and hunting types.

Or, if you are open to other states, take a look at Montana State University in Bozeman. I have been up there a few times, looks to be a great school and awesome surroundings.

You might also look at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Might just be the closest university to great riding.

Boulder really SUCKs. I've worked in Boulder for the last 2 years and I love driving my diesel truck through town and blowing black smoke everywhere :). Starting 11/1 I will no longer be working in Boulder. One less person in Boulder and now the world is a better place.

CU is probably pretty cool. I see tons of hott chicks which is a major plus in my book.

Another if your thinking of other schools. I go to Utah state university. Plenty of things to do and very very attractive women. For me it's about 30-40 minute drive up Logan canyon to some of the best riding in the west. Franklin basin Tony grove definition of steep and deep. Or a 5 minute drive to providence canyon which is pretty fun on real deep days. If you come to usu I'm more than happy to show you around.

Ditto that, the sledding is great nearby, but there are a disgusting amount of other recreational activities nearby. everything from dirtbiking to kayaking to climbing to.... the 172 other great things to do around here.

You'll love it. You may not agree with the politics of boulder, but it is a great place to leave on the weekends and there is a lot of stuff that is very close so you can play in the afternoons as well. I've worked a normal day & then done a simulclimb up the flatirons in the evening while I was living down the road in golden, it's a great place!!

I got my degree in POLY-SCI/Pre-Law at Boulder.
While i was one of only 12 conservatives on campus, I had an absolute BLAST because of all the Libs. It made it all the more fun to be there.

Don't recall EVERY BEING BORED on weekends either. There is SO MUCH STUFF TO DO in and around Boulder.!
