Take a look at this! The cover bushing is gone!! WTF happened here and I wonder how much bad this did to my crank?

Ron, I bet this could attribute to some of that lost HP we talked about!

Lets hope it wasn't flopping around for too long. I've had two clutches come through that had lost the inner bushing, haven't seen a bad outer so soon. I would check your inner bushing and also the clearance on the button to tower. The inner and outer are more of a guide bushing so you might have too much clearance on the buttons.
On one clutch I saw it had a build up of sludge, likely hardened grease and belt dust that took out the inner bushing. The upper jackshaft bearing may the the culprit, it needs very little grease-any excess will spin off and find it's way to the clutch. I try about a 1/4 stroke on the grease gun mid year and again at spring service. Excess grease keeps leaking as it gets warm so it may look OK during service.

I am pretty savy on this stuff but not feeling so smart right now... I thought the upper J-shaft bearing was sealed?? where the he!! is the zerk?

As for the rest of the clutch it is shot, lot's of free fplay in the sheave bushing and tower guides. I am hoping for a warranty but who knows?

Sorry Dub, I wasn't thinking about the dragons when I made the comment about the upper jack shaft. Just worked on an Edge sled, I may be getting more retarded every day.

Thank goodness, I thought it was me. Just checked the runout, .0015. Not bad for a flailing time bomb.
