Things to change on 08 XP

I bought an 08 XP and was wondering if there were any major needed changes besides the stuff the dealer is up grading to 09 speck like all the crap that breakes. I read something like on the 09 they fixed the sputtering it does when you lay it over hard in deep snow ... whats the fix and can it be done on the 08???

I'd go with the DJ clutch kit, and maybe replace the bushings, & rollers in the primary. Your dealer should take care of all the warrenty stuff before you pick it up. You want to make it run better at altitude, buy a head to bump up your compression a little. Make sure your running the 377 belt, and other than that, just have fun.

Well i live in the AK so i dont need the altitude set up so much cause we usually ride 0-3000 ... and i think the vent kit sounds smart and mabey later the clutch but i heard they surged or coughed in the real deep powder is this true or not

Yeah. The 08's bog in the powder when the air intake gets clogged with snow. It sounds like the fix is to put extra vents in the air box. Do a search and you should be able to find info on it. People are putting them in different places but it sounds like it fixes the problem.

we're goint to put the SLP cold air intake kit on our 08 and 09's----we're also putting the 09 clutch set up:D:eek:

I installed some SLP flow rites in the back of my air box. They fixed the problem perfectly. I also disabled the pop off valve on the air box aswell. I was ingesting snow when the main screen got plugged. And yes that just led to frozen carbs. So now with all that done i can run in the deep fluff without any hesitation.
