THE SKS IS NOT THE REPLACEMENT FOR THE STD-RMK

Except for the extra weight of the coolant and hoses and a VERY slight additional weight of the cooler itself... maybe an extra 5 lbs total.

Plus... with the PRO/Axys design... you give up NO tunnel clearance with the bulkhead cooler.

I see ZERO disadvantages to the front cooler and only positive benefits.... I've never had "too much cooler" on my Std. PRO-Chassis RMK....

MH, where does the battery go for the electric start? Doesn't look like any room along the chain case or belt drive like on the pro.

Since I had one of each here in the garage, I threw them on the scale to put actual numbers to the difference.
The weight difference for the cooler on the PRO-Ride chassis sleds is; Std front cooler weighs 1284 Grams, the PRO RMK front extrusion weighs 963 Grams, Difference is 321 Grams or 0.708 of a pound.

From the dimensions of the cooler it holds a maximum of 0.15 Gallons of coolant at 8.25 #'s per Gallon at 120 Degrees F = 1.25#'s. So even if the hoses were to hold 1/2 as much as the cooler does (=22" of 1" hose, however it does not use that much hose nor that big of hose) that is still only a 2.583#'s weight penalty for the piece of mind.

Likely less, and as has been mentioned many times; the sleds with the front cooler, do not grow a huge ice ball in the front portion of the tunnel, which likely weighs more the the cooler / water weight difference.

Two completely differing bulkhead castings for the Axys RMK now.

Wouldn't really want to blow a chaincase on an Axys RMK - it's a bulkhead replacement now, or at least a conversion to an aftermarket belt drive, and only if you're lucky (and somebody offers a conversion). There will be more stories about this in the future.

Not having a front cooler on all RMKs is just marketing (low advertised dry weight) and cost reduction. And poo has made it work for them.

Can you say 4 year bumper to bumper warranty? You wouldn't be paying for it anyway.

sks standard w electric start? yuk. hope thats not true.
and 7 tooth 2.86p drivers when i bet they could have fit 8 tooths, is just cheap. thems is small drivers. i know the tracks are very pliable but still.. do those even match the diameter of the rear wheels? i only see the advantage of 7 tooths if you need to fit a 3" paddle with larger 3" pitch.

id still get an sks, but it would be in my mind always how well would it go with a 163 2.6, 8 tooths, and lower gearing. better aoa, and track speed... better best all around mnt. sled perhaps..

When doing a snowcheck select manual start is the default but can add ES. The weight on the site in the specs is based on Electric Start. I hope this helps?

The Axys Pro will have 7T drivers either 2.86 or 3.0 depending on which track.

The SKS may be different with the 2.4 track (use 8t drivers) vs the new 2.6 track (use 7t drivers). Don't know.....

What if I order my SKS with optional 2.6" track?

In the article in newest Snowwest mag it clearly says that Axys RMK will have 2.86 pitch 8 teeth drivers on <2.6" track and 3.0 pitch 7 teeth drivers on the 3" tracks.

Wether this is true or not, I don't know :-P

So if SnoWest prints it, it's has to true???????

If you take the new 2016 Quick drive pulley ratio, 1.96 or so and factor in driver size, the only way they could get to 2.23 on the 2.6 track is with a 7T 2.86 driver.

Otttar... I saw the same thing... I think it was a misprint in the mag.

The 2016 AXYS PRO-RMK with the 155", 2.86"-pitch series 2.6 tracks that we drove had the 7-tooth drivers on them... we actually saw this on the sleds when the Polaris engineers tipped the sleds on their sides and pointed, specifically, the 7 tooth drivers and the series 2.6 track.

All of the 2016 AXYS mountain sleds with QuickDrive™ will have the 7 tooth drivers.

On the 2016 chain-drive SKS and ASSAULT with the 2.25" Peak track...(edit) the drivers are still 7-tooth, 2.86" pitch with 20/40 gearing. (2.0:1 GEAR RATIO... 2.23 FINAL DRIVE RATIO w/7 tooth)

For the SKS... with the front cooler to shed the ice-burg at the front of the tunnel... I would not worry about it... but with the Assault... that much clearance
WITHOUT the cooler that sheds the ice-burg... I have my concerns.

The Chaincase equipped 3"-lug PRO RMK's/Assaults will have the 7 tooth drivers on them with 19/44 gearing.

Same here, dealer had a couple in the showroom this week before Poo headed to the Expo and they clearly had 7T drivers....dang things look tiny. We had nice discussion with Andy while we were their.
