THE SKS IS NOT THE REPLACEMENT FOR THE STD-RMK

Although we got spoiled last year with the snowcheck options on the std-RMK (clicker shocks, tunnel cooler, color, chaincase, lower price)...

The SKS is NOT the replacement for the Std. RMK in the Axys chassis.

Polaris looked at the market and decided that they needed a "Heavy Duty" version of the sled... not as light but more robust and tougher...but not an Assault...Hence the SKS...

I AM however, surprised that there is NO SKS 163":yuck:

if it sells as well as i think it will, i can see a 144 and 163 sks for 17! and 600

Nice to see ya back MH. Thought maybe we were losing the best mod on SW when you were silent during the release. No offense Scott you're alright to. lol

I'll give you this, it's not about price point for the SKS, it's about purpose.

Note to poo - segmenting the mountain market now between Assault - Pro - SKS might be genius (terrain - all mountain - powder) - they may have just defined another niche (like the Summit Renegade did in 02 - it started as a summit), since so many people are buying boondockers now. If the SKS has big sellthrough, watch for the others to mimic.

They can't/won't abandon the entry market - in 2017 poo will migrate the current standard RMK (still offered as a Pro for 16) to the Axys. We'll see about the SKS, and what happens. I'm sure most know the history - the Snow King Special was the RMK before the Rocky Mountain King got intro'ed in 97 to response to the Summit.

Wonder what the west rentals will be stocking up on next fall - SKS or std RMK? Rental ops - what do you think?

Seems like with the std electric start and differences in standard shocks, cooler chaincase wheels and so on it is not much different than last years standard.

Still looks like a standard RMK with better shocks and e start for a lot more than it should be. I understand it has the pro tapers, wheels, ect but doesn't offset the cost. The only way I could see it cost that much is if it came with a belt drive. Pro RMK w' front heat exchanger is what poo really missed out on. That and the assault switchback axys but I'm not interested in starting that argument I know it will come next year for those who want it.

Dan Adams made the comment that his next yr rental fleet will all be SKS's.

The SKS is a standard RMK with clicker shocks, pro tapers, and I THINK has the same lightweight brakes the Pro has. It is a mix of Standard,Assault and Pro all combined into one.

Seems like they are very similar. Like the difference with the Pro is Belt Drive, No cooler, no electric start, Carbon Fiber over structure and rear bumper, no piggy back shocks, no wheels but added scratchers (no matter what sled I buy will have both wheels and scratchers because I am in the midwest), 2.6" track instead of 2.4 (if I order one it will have the 2.6) other than that I don't see a big difference.

I want the SKS but maybe I will add one of these to it.

I got one of the loaded -15 standard RMKs they imported to Scandinavia. Front cooler, piggyback shocks Protapers, chaincase, lightweight brake etc.

Been out with a malfunctioning shoulder most of this season so my sled is almost new still which means I will keep it at least another year. If I would have swapped for -16 it would have been for a SKS. Someone above was grumpy about the SKS not having QD, I, however, will not ever as long as I live, regardless of how fantastically trouble free the internet has decided it is, buy a sled with a belt drive that has no tensioner!!!!!!

The standard RMK for 2016 is not in the AXYS chassis and doesn't have the HO motor. Is PI clearing out inventory? Hope they aren't doing the Arctic Cat re-decal trick.

Does the SKS 2.6" come with 7 or 8 tooth drivers? If its the 7 tooth drivers, doesnt that mean that the chaincase could rub on the track or did they change the chaincase on the AXYS? And if its the 8 tooth, is there more tunnel clearance than in a Pro chassis or is it just going to be a tight fit?

im now questioning the bulk head cooler for us in the flat. is it really necessary?

you need scratchers for your slides anyways. i was riding around with my son and going slow. the snow has all sunk and was like ice. was driving around fairly slow with my scratchers down and was seeing 150 degrees max. where it was smooth i was going a little faster and did get it down to 130. i remeber my 08 rmk never did get hotter than 140 but i ate threw slides so quick.....

i think i still want a 163. i think i still want a quick drive now that its 2.2X gearing...... questioning the sks. even a new sled really. Might put a ftx tunnel cooler on, scratchers seem like they would spray right into it....

I run my pro-rmk around on the flats (SK) with no problems yet, Pure ice does not work however. I do not run much for groomed trails as we dont have them here so its all field and ditches.

Well...The AXYS-PRO doesn't really have a separate case.... and it is a completely different bulkhead and center to center distance on the drive/jack shafts. The chaincase is built into the bulkhead now... The QuickDrive plate is also...built into the bulkhead now...

Anything is, of course, possible...but you wont be putting a factory quick drive on the SKS without a lot of $$.

So yes... the SKS will have the 7 tooth drivers with the center extrovert driver... same as the other AXYS PRO-RMK/SKS sleds.
