The only thing worse than having Obama for a president...

I guess you forgot about the stroke of Clinton's pn during his final day in office that shut off 54 million acres of Rocky Mountain forrest to all development, access, etc that Bush overturned as soon as he took office ..

Wonderful idea, let's put them back in Office

So 54 million acres is all of it? And it was shut down for like 2 days. So the net result was nothing happened? Seems like if Clinton new it would stick he would have done it sooner and not let the door open for Bush to smash it down.

It was basically enacting NERPA by executeive order ...

And it was the thought that counted, not the fact that he knew it'd be overturned in a few weeks :)

Ever heard of Grand Staircase Escalante? Executive order by one Bill Clinton that could not be turned over. He did not consult with the state of Utah before doing this, and had the ceremony announcing it, in another state. With a stroke of a pen in any power mongering president's hand, your favorite riding area may be a national park.

Actually ruffryder, the whole roadless thing is coming back to haunt us. Here in Idaho, the forest managers are closing everything listed in the clinton roadless proclamation, as closed under the travel plans. Most of the closures were announced on the final draft of the travel plan. No time to get a fair reading. It's coming buddy, clinton will be the death of a lot of great riding areas.

you guys r killin me. lol funny funny tim!

ok lets see...........................jeff wants a m1000, john wants a nytro............aw the hell w/ it. i know what i said but after you put me in office im just gonna do whatever i want on any given day, i may even use a spin the wheel make a deal routine. afterall, i will be a politician wont i??

If it got overturned how is it still having an effect? Is this a case where the local forest managers and using whatever they can to get their own agenda past? Is this isolated or are people using the Clinton roadless plan in other parts of the country too?

I think we need to have some private areas to ride. Maybe get with the loggers to buy a bunch of land, let them log it in the summer and we could ride it in the winter. Seems like a good multi-use plan to me.

OMG, knee deep in it, I really hope that was some dry humor there.

Al Gore is a lying sack. You want to fly over to Tennessee and see where he used to get all his money. Zinc mine, number 1 environmental waste site in Tennessee. Number 2 was the island his uncle and him bulldozed into the river. Pizzed off the Indians cause old uncle pushed their ancestors into the river also. He doesn't have a science education. I think he took journalism at Vanderbilt. His daddy was a senator, and a crook also. How many people run for president and loose their home state?

Man that's worse then running for prez and only winning your home state.

I believe the act was overturned because it didn't involve the states. Here in Idaho we had a temporary governor when Kempthorne left to become Secretary of the Department of the Interior, Gov Rische. Rische believes that the Feds will come in and reenact/dictate the clinton roadless. So, he preempted the feds by summiting a request for the states to designate a roadless plan. It covers all the same area, but closes a lot less land. The problem is that no one can tell you what's closed, or open. He was so stupid to leave everything open for "interruption", that we'll be fighting about the language in the proposal for the foreseeable future. Elected Gov Otter's staff has been trying to make it clear that we want protection from a federally mandated roadless, but he wants no motorized access taken away. So, now we start playing the, does anyone ride there game. Anyway, the point is that the states believe the roadless plan will be back.

I believe that California, Oregon, Washington, and Montana are putting together their own proposals. Wyoming and Utah and Nevada are holding out. Well see what happens.
