The fun is in the canyon - Pics from Monday

Having a trail broken for us by people walking was tough to swallow. But I'd bet my house we worked harder and sweat more getting there.

Now that is what I call a RIDE!......AWESOME!!

Your pictures and trip reports are one of a kind, thanks for posting them for us to enjoy. Great job in breaking trail up that nasty/awesome drainage. Awesome to have good enough snow depths down low to take adventures like this.

We recently had a similar experience exploring a new access to some great riding, following the skin tracks was humbling..but convenient. I am pretty sure backcountry sledding is as intense a workout as you can get winter recreating.

Wicked pics forthmeal!! Please do tell on the "Where's The Kill Switch" pic :)

So it was kind of my fault for telling him it looked doable from down where I was standing. He wanted to creep over the edge and slide the sled down on its side and cut it to the bottom left of the image. But the track started trenching at the top so he wound up carrying more speed than he wanted coming over the edge.

At this point gravity overcame what hold the sled had on the hillside (which was actually near vertical for the top 15 feet) and the HCR turned into a $12,000 toboggan.

McClure did a great job of riding it out anyway. These pro hillclimbers have the mentality that things haven't really gone bad until you're lying in a hospital bed (later, he jumped a boulder and bent the handlebars from landing so hard).

And thanks to EFI, the sled put on a few tenths of a mile while he dug out the kill switch.

One of the most entertaining guys I've ever ridden with. Never just rolling down the middle of the canyon, always racing back and forth across the creek, hitting everything pinned.

I WANNA GO THERE! Holy heck that looks like fun!!:devil:

And FABULOUS PICTURES!!! I don't know whether to hate you... or beg for more!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm MORE PLEASE! ;)

Amazing pics. What settings would you recomend I start with? I will be using a Canon G10 (I don't want to bring my D300 yet).

Not sure on the G10. Just not a lot of user control. But once you get your D300 out there, you'll see a big difference. What lens is on the D300?
