The "Fix" for 2011 Pro

Anyone been installing these? Pros? Cons?

Thinking about a top end rebuild at 1500 miles. How does this Fix work on the new CFI 800?

For not much more than a pair of stock piston and rings a guy can install the FIX.

I don't have any experience with the fix, but if I was going to refresh a Pro, I would definitely look into it further.

I took out a motor last year on my 11 pro, piston skirt snapped off and chewed everything up. Two weeks later new short block and rippin again. What I heard is some early production models had piston clearence issue's.

I wonder if the Fix may still be needed on the 11's and 12's. The short rod length and piston side load has not changed.

What he is saying is that it does not need to be fixed. the fix-it kits were for the dragons, longer pistons, gasket kit and head shims. Your not going to find it on the pro forum because they were made for the dragona

1500 miles is a little soon to be worried about pistons. heck sometimes i put 3k on my sled in a season and i'm sure not gonna be rebuilding it twice a season...

Yea I know. But my warrenty will be running out this spring and I was just giving some consideration on weather the Fix might be somthing to prevent a broken engine before next years riding. 1500 miles is about what I will have on it by spring.

Anhow, thanks for your input guys.

I don't know much about "The fix" but it seems a waste of time for all these people to chime in with smartass comments and no info at all! They make "The Fix" for the dragon and the new pro so if you dont have any knowledge why chime in?

Because if you READ the thread that TurboMatt posted you'll figure out the "fix" was needed for the CF-4 motors of the Dragon and that they "market" the "fix" using scare tactics to unsuspecting Pro owners that simply don't need it (CF-2). My comment wasn't meant to be "smart ***" just wanted to point out that most issues have been covered (us 2011 owners know a thing or two about these sleds by now) and are searchable. I guess I have some disdain for scare tactic marketing.

Have FUN!

So what's wrong with using it if a person was going to refresh a top end? This is what the OP was talking about doing. It may not be needed, but that doesn't mean that the motor can't benefit from taller pistons. When I replace the pistons in my '11 turbo, this will definitely looked into.

The only diffrence is a pro engine lasts a little longer but it will get the same problem as the cfi-4 ,so i think its a good upgrade.

This is exactly how I am looking at it. I don't think anyone should be ripping down perfectly good engines to put in "the fix", but when its time for a rebuild, why not upgrade?
