The Eternal Winter

live from the mountains of colorado....SNOW

So snowbird is at 187" base mid mountain and 755" for the year so far. Just crazy.

Have you ever seen this from a resort before?

"Snowbird will not be opening today, May 20. Snow overnight was extremely dense and temperatures this morning are very warm. The tentative schedule is to open for skiing and riding at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The forecast is calling for warm afternoon temperatures so the mountain will likely close around noon. There will be limited terrain accessed by Peruvian Express, Mineral Basin and Little Cloud, conditions permitting. The skiing and riding is recommended for experts only."

The end of that day was not a good one. When we got back to the trucks we had fish cops and a few sheriff waiting on us so I wouldnt recommend it. The tickets were "violation of travel plan" and " watershed" they tried to give us a trespassing but we had a pass to access public land through Brighton.

Violation of watershed cracks me up! What about the thousands of cars that constantly access that canyon? No emissions? No oil leaks? What a joke! What about the impact of all of the infrastructure with lifts, lodges, and everything else.

only 2 places in SL County you can legally ride a sled. Those are the ROADS only at Guardsmans and East canyon. Everything else is watershed. The canyon patrol up Big is pretty narrowminded too. Had a run in with them a few years back. I say unload at G-mans and scoot over the top to PC Or Deer Valley if you want to tresspass on a ski run.

Nice shots Dizz! There is some air under that sled in the first shot :plane:

I'm wondering if the camping season will ever start here in Utah...looks like Colorado is in the same boat.

...and Butterfield canyon, I'm not sure who the watershed is for but I know its not the people of SL county, 95% of the water for SL county comes from the most popular sled use area in the state....Unitahs, and I'm not talking about the wilderness area portion. So I guess its just another reason made up to keep sleds out. Not sure if that argument would stand in court though. :boxing:

I thought that would be a catchy title to the video considering the gizmo somehow ended up on a rental. I have another gizmo that is in the works on my snopro. If you want to ride that rental Jacob ? You need do nothing but ask.
