The end of all mining in the US.

I just don't see anything coming of this anytime soon. I live in Gillette Wyoming we are making our one power plant twice as big and one of our other coal mines is building a power plant that is twice as big as the one we have now. Another mine just bought 40 new haul trucks from Komatsu And the lagest open pit coal mine just bought the mine across the road for 730 million. Why are we putting so much money into mining if there is such a risk of it being outlawed?

The mines must not understand the power of Obama and his change.

tat will be good for the green house gases. think about it.....how many folks does it take to build, move, assemble and maintain those haul trucks? add in the folks who will lose their jobs mining.....the folks who will lose their jobs moving the mined product, processing it........so on and so on.

the way I see it, that could save huge amounts of greenhouse gases. pretty smart really, just put 100k folks out of decent jobs and take away their tv's.....of course we are gonna have to print more money since it is gonna be economic chaos.

friggen idiots!

Did anyone take the time to read all of that? From what I gathered from reading it:

-It will require mines be responsible for cleanup of any mess they make, instead of leaving it to tax payers

-It will charge these large mining corporations more for the mineral rights than they currently do. Many times they are currently paying $5 an acre for mineral rights. Then they extract the minerals and sell them for millions to billions. So they take PUBLIC taxpayer land and make money off of it for REALLY CHEAP.

Mining will never go away, nor should it. But there does need to be some responsibility with it.

same thing up here ....we just have more regulations re clean up and stuff..never killed it at all ...just made them responsible

Wish I could have caught the dem that was talking on the radio because someone needs to call and let him in on that.
Cause he says it will end the mining.

"Mining will never go away, nor should it."

Yea, just like Obama is going to fix the economy by bankrupting the country.
