The end of all mining in the US.

The sponsor of the bill is a democrat from West Virginia... Isn't WV huge into coal mining??

9 of the cosponsors are from California!! We need a limit of 2 congressman from every state... Not this based on population bullschitt

So, your president talks about wanting to create all these jobs for people, you know keep the economy strong and then shut down one of America's largest industries??:confused:

I really hope for Nevada this is not true. As the 3rd largest producer of gold in the World, this would kill our State. I would really hope the Harry Ried would check back in Nevada prior to voting this issue. But then he hasn't been in contact with real Nevadans for the last 10 years.

The Envioro lobby has the media, congress, senate and The White House with open arms and they appear to be able to push what ever program they want, with only muted opposition. This could be fatal for a lot of industry as well as recreation.

Don't forget.
Obama has pledged energy independance.
How exactly is he going to do that without coal?

Typical liberal move. Spend more time and energy (no pun intended) to save a few trees than to save our slumping economy. We might extend the life of the earth for 20 years but they don't mind laying off thousands if not millions.

This is pure crap for many hard working families. the Dems are punishing the rural states for voting Republican. They are pitting the rural states vs the leftist urban states like California and New York.

no coal that would hurt alot of people. probally put the rail road out of buisness. most new power plants are natural gas now.

not good! lots of ppl going to be looking for jobs! think i might have to change course of study... change from power technology to process technology

I just don't see anything coming of this anytime soon. I live in Gillette Wyoming we are making our one power plant twice as big and one of our other coal mines is building a power plant that is twice as big as the one we have now. Another mine just bought 40 new haul trucks from Komatsu And the lagest open pit coal mine just bought the mine across the road for 730 million. Why are we putting so much money into mining if there is such a risk of it being outlawed?

I dont think that will help you much either, red trail energy "ethanol plant" in richardton is on the verge of being shut down as well as others laying people off. I worked at a food oil refinery befor the powerplant I am in now, last I heard they layed off all the workers except the office people. We are doing alot of emissions work to our plant right now,I think we will be safe for awhile but I wont take anything for granted these days.

So, this bill attacks minerals on Public Lands. West Virgina probably doesn't care, there's no public lands left to mine there anyway. All the mines I know of, are on private property. There are some national forests, but they were closed 30 years ago, to everything but pot growers.

Most comments I've heard, point to this being an attempt to kill all small mining operations. Leaving only the giant multinationals. Seems the enviros what this legislation to kill mining claims on public land, and stop mineral exploration on public lands. It's a bill targeting the west.

It won't kill coal mining, it will just limit it to big corporations. You know, Obama's real friends.

Just heard a Dem in washington talking about stopping all hardrock mining in the US as a way to get greenhouse gasses emitted by coal burning power plants under control. HE wants to force them to switch over to natural gas.

That is absolutley %100 the most patently stupid idea I have ever heard of in my entire existance.

And I will freely admit, that were we ever to substitute coal for natural gas on a wide scale I would make more money than GOD off that deal ..

That is a just STUPID STUPID STUPID idea.

Because alternative energy as the current leadership and national news outlets portray it is a complete farce. a sham.

and it's [hopefully] going to catch up with all of them very soon

Well, there goes Wyoming's economy. I think that Obama needs a history lesson on the economics of Wyoming.
