The best rear skid to my King?

Hey guys,
I have been thinking about switching rear skid in my King cat, I've been thinking a bit on, Ez-Ryde, Timbersled, Mountain addiction, which of these is the shiet to my King cat? I drive much hill climbing, and boondocking, but I like to jump a little so it should be durable!! :face-icon-small-hap

The reason for the change is for the original has got some beating so it has some cracks in rails.

Grateful for answers!!

the stock skid is pretty light just replace the rails and run it. Unless you are willing to spend 2 grand for a new skid. doesent seem like it would be worth it. i would recommend running the sledjunky drop brackets too if you dont already have them.

Thanks for the reply!! I have thinking about a M-series skid from -08 to, or is the -09 durable?

The earlier m series and king cat skids are very similar. in fact your king cat skid may be lighter because of the titanium. not positive tho if m series skid will bolt into king cat.

There are a couple people parting out king cats on this section.... you ought to just pick up a used skid from them.

How about this set up?

Tried to paste in the link but Snowest blocked it (CHICKENSH!T). Go to snowest.com and do a advanced search for the username of 76FoMoCo. Look for his Fox Float rear suspension in a 1M King Cat sled. It looks great and he'll give u some advice if u need it. Good Luck!

The '08+ M suspension will bolt in, it requires a few modifications.

76FOMOCO did a great job on his, his walkthrough is still here, although he removed the pictures.

My dad and I have also done this to 4 of our sleds.

The earlier ones ('05-'07) are lighter than the 1Ms, mostly in the front arm (3 lbs)

The later ones are even lighter, due to the floats.

Not for your style of riding, none of these are what you are after. Use some '09-10 rails and M-Series front arm. Float the rear with the conversion kit or swap for a K-Mod torsion rear shock. Ice Age is another option for rails but i like the look of Cat's myself.

I have the equivalent to a Mountain Addiction skid and definately not meant for jumping.......climbs through trenches, dips and bumps like no other but rough trail and jumping is not what this suspension likes.

kmod

I went w/ a kmod. Ice age rails and two wheel kit. I was amazed how well this rear improved the handling and helped w/ ski lift. I used an m front arm and the kmod rear w/ a coil over in the rear. I'm bout 250 and kevin recomended the coil over for my weight. I wrecked my sled and would sell it if someone was interested.

I have tried alot of stuff over the years and really didnt find anything that I liked so I built my own skid and around 20 others after they rode with me and rode mine. I am in the prosses getting my desighn worked out for custom rails by the end of the summer for my projects but plan on using them on all my customers also. Go to member sled builds and look up 2010 500 sno pro build and link on my photo bucket picks. You will see my KK with all my upgrades. Thanks Lonnie

kmod pics

here are some pics. I put some of my track in there also. 162x16x2.5 camoplast extreme. i'd like 450 for it. great shape. no lugs missing. few notches on the outside paddles where it would hit some rivets. This skid only has 8-10 rides on it.
