TETHER -MY INSTALLATION WITH PICS

I almost ordered one till I read this post. Anybody else have any further input on this?
Hawkster, did you go to a different tether?
Have to beat to a different drum , of course I did :face-icon-small-hap but it's something that won't work the way you guys want it to .
It's a push and hold kill on the bars , motocross button .
She runs a tether on her ignition on the Poo , the key can be persuaded to pull out very easily .
Having the tether pointing down might be a better idea than having it horizontal , like Paul_Aris has said

You must be talking about the Fly billet Kill switch. I sold one of those to my buddy to replace his kill switch. That is a bullet proof Kill switch replacement but like you said will not work as a tether.

That is a rock solid killer tether , but , been there done that and found out the hard way .

It's not made for snow applications , used it as the main ignition and in good deep snow it sticks and does not retract to kill . Only time it failed repeatedly was in those conditions , had to actually push it in by hand even though it snaps like a pitbull .

hate to be a negative post but i had the same thing happen at the end of the yr, after running it all last yr.

I was a big proponent of these last yr, infact convinced most of my riding group to install them (atleast a dozen). I was the only one to have this happen outta our group so I wasnt sure if it was a fluke or sign of more to come. undecided on what tether to put on my 2013.

How was yours mounted and did you pull the key/cord each night and replug it in the next morning?

I would like to buy that tether and wire it with the correct plug. Does anyone know what the part number or name or where to get the correct plug that works with the OEM plug?

**edited - I was referring to a diff harness than Paul. Sorry about that.. I disconnected my handlebar kill switch & wired my tether in its place, as I hate that Polaris kill switch. I didn't catch OP was wiring differently - my apologies! That's what I get for skimming on my phone ;)

I was told u they are deutsch connectors by friend that wired mine last yr. I'll ck with him & see where he got them.

Here's a pick (blue connector)

I don't believe that is the correct one.

One could just cut the plug off and solder and shrink wrap it. I mean the plug is only there to be used as a tether anyway. I would think soldered and shrink wrapped would be your best method if your worried about the spade connectors.

Thanks for posting this on here, I went with the standard Polaris tether and thought it was a simple plug in connection. The plug on the tether was not the same as the one you showed on your install but thats the one that worked, thanks again.

Not that I know of but only makes sense to cycle it a few times to make sure everything moves freely.

I'm with ya. Mine definitely gets cycled when I ride so that for sure wouldn't be why it failed.

Guess i'll try the Polaris one u have & see how it holds up. Thx

There has to be a source out there for the right plug. Once I get my tether I will look around on the web. I would prefer to leave the plug as is, and just find the correct one.

Due to recent failures we have seen posted and heard about we have pulled these from our snowmobile section of our website. We do not recommend these for snowmobile use. We are working with our distributor and the manufacturer to get the word out and see what remedies are available.
