Tether Kill switch...

I'm a fan of the simplicity and durability of the Pro-Armor or SRP Pro-tether switches.

Mount it up high... very positive action and holds tight when you need it for active style boondocking! When you fall it comes out.

Get some extra lanyards/keys for WHEN you loose one.

Polaris has the old standard rubber model.... but for hard core boondocking, your body moves more than even a Professional snowcrosser and those can be prone to accidental activation more than one of these units.

MY only pet peeve with ANY of the tether switches is the clip for the jacket.... they are all cheap....

I prefer to get a small, high quality, carabiner to replace the one that comes with all the tethers
The small Petzel units are great and cheap... makes clipping/unclipping easy even with gloves on.

I have a pro design tether which seems to be the same thing as Mountain horse's pro armor tether. when hooking it up to the factory harness I guess I can use the spade connectors as mentioned earlier, but with two black wires does it matter which wires go where? I'm assuming it doesn't. great thread by the way

Guys tried ordering the factory tether and I'm getting all kinds of sleds but no 2011 assaults. Whats the right part number??

Tethers are a must

I have always run a tether switch on every sled we've owned. I also usually bypass the throttle safety switch (if equipped), and doctor the kill switch so it requires a firm, constant pressure to kill the engine. Although I've never had a runaway sled, I know enough people that have that either sustained injury from the track, or ended up with a destroyed machine, or both.
Buy a tether and install it prior to riding - it is an inexpensive part that may save you a trip to a surgeon.

I put a Teth Air system on my Pro and love it. Just put the strap with the sending unit around your wrist and forget about it. On my XP the tether snags on the bars quite a bit and I have forgotten to hook up. I put a 6 inch strap with a bright orange carabiner on my avy vest and a medium sized carabiner on the tether and that makes hooking up so much easier. Teth Air is still better, will have them on all my sleds next year.
