My 2011 pro is running about 10 degrees hotter then my 2012 pro. Both sleds are 155s. We went down the trails yesterday with scratchers down and at the same speed side by side. My 11 has a new motor in it with 60 miles on it. My 12 has 85 miles on it. Coolant bolts are both fill. We have no snow here so we have only been on the trails so far. Any thought?

Hey Steve,

We've got three Pros, two 2011 and a 2012.

My guess is oil rod adjustment and or throttle input. Are both sleds consuming the same amount of oil? Are both riders hitting WOT (even just for short bursts) the same amount.

Or is your wife riding the hotter sled?-- with less aggressive throttle bursts where less oil and less fuel are being injected to cool the engine.

It could be fuel mapping is slightly different at that RPM.... A leaner running sled would run slightly hotter.

Also the gauges could read slightly different.... Are the scratchers (tension) in the same condition.

What temps are you guys running on the trails? My 12 is at 130 and the 11 is running 140. In the powder the 12 is at 125 and the 11 is at 133. What does oil have to do with Temps? Both sled have oil in the tank for break in. We will switch sleds today but i think the result will be the same.

On the 07 road, typically 125-130 with scratchers down.

Watch the temps, if the temperature rises you can reduce temps by whacking the throttle open-- even for just a short burst. It spins the track which throws snow on the cooler and squirts extra fuel and oil in the cylinder which can help cool it also.

The oil linkage is also connected to the the throttle plates, as you increase throttle opening the more oil you use. That extra oil helps cool down the the piston and cylinder.

In deep pow with the throttle pinned 127 degrees.

I road my 11 today the wife rode the 12 and 11 flat out runs hotter everywhere. Still under warrant so going back to the dealer.
