Temp light flash on long pulls

I have an 05 900 with the SLP Performance Package. I have less thea 40 miles on the motor with new 06 pistons, new fuel filter, ang injectors have been serviced. I noticed a light on my dash flashing while running across a lake at WOT. After I stopped I noticed it was the temp light. I took another run across the lake and noticed it would flash after 5 to 10 seconds at WOT and would stop if I backed off of the throttle a little bit. I did not get to see hoe many times it would flash. Water temp was around 125 EGT's were around 1050. Does anyone know what would be going on to make the light flash?

On older models, the temp light doubled as a DET warning light.... but I am not sure that that same system is used on the 900.... I have never heard of that happening?????

Temp light cotrolled through CDI with inputs being water temp sender TPS and rpm
230 at idle (on) 175 at 80% TPS with timing retarded(on)
Ck wiring and verify all input parameters

Did you replace the T-stat by chance? About 2-3 seasons is the max I would run one.

Being that you only have 40 miles on the motor, I would double check that you don't have any air in the system, AND check the wiring. That bleeder hole on the t-stat housing works well for getting out any trapped air. If you have a good multimeter, you can verify the integrity of the coolant temp sensor by watching the resistance change as the engine warms up

yeah my dealer told me if the light flashes that means your detonating. X2 your getting to hot and need to up your octane a few points. or not hold WOT for too long. i would take your pipe off and look down the y pipe to see what the pistons look like.
