Do you work on Honda power equipment? If so, could you tell me where the drain plug is located for the engine oil on a HS928 snowblower. I *think* I know where it is but when I tried backing it out it only could go so far before it starting hitting the frame. I ended up sucking the oil out through the fill cap but I don't think that's the way it's supposed to be done.

Secondly, on the same machine how often should I replace the gear lube for the auger? And what is the recommended weight of the oil?

Thanks!

I normally diagnose, repair and service Gold Wings, sport and cruizer bikes, quads, watercraft etc... Since we are a Honda Powerhouse dealer we carry every current Honda model, including power equiptment, but I have been known to service a snowblower every now and then... hehehe

The drain plug is on the very bottom edge of the engine block at it's base. Look down and toward the center o fthe engine block from the dipstick. The plug pulls out horizontally. It has an aluminum drain washer under it. There is also one on the opposite side of the engine also. I suggest getting an adapter tube for draining oil from your local Honda Power Equiptment dealer. It makes draining oil a lot easier
The correct gear oil is SAE 90 ( Honda part number 08739-90w) for the auger drive. Check the level by removing the drain plug in the end of the auger drive before each use. Change it seasonally.

Hope this helps ya, sorry if we jacked this thread topic
