Tell me about Gunnison Co

I've lived here 20 years(western grad). What all the others have said is true. Not really that cold(lived in colder), plenty of work for the motivated and intelligent. In the last eight to ten years some of the newbies have been trying to ruin it; rather soft and whiney lot(note: opinion 
), bless their hearts. LOTS of trustfunders due to the quasi college, beautiful environment, and the very fun and diverse outdoor activities.

I was at the top of Monarch Pass(about 40 miles east of Gunnison) one night last year at midnight, it was +30 F. As I started down I could not believe how fast the temp dropped, when I got to town it was -30.
I love the area, both winter and summer. I am very familiar with eastern side around the continental divide and love the fact that most feel the land is there for everyone to use. Crested Butte may not think that way and have made building regulations for the whole county a little difficult, but hopefully we can keep those guys up there. LOL(no offense to mtndoo)

Jusy kidding. Hey I'm heading out feb 4th-9th. any chance you will be there?
I was planning on being there then but I am buying a repoed house for my son and closing is on the 9th. It is a 1400 sg ft ranch built in 1994 that the county has appraised for $72,900 and I am buying it for $24,500.
How does that compare to Gunnison prices?

I am specifically looking for snow, and mountains. Cold is just a by-product.
I think someone is afraid of a little trail sled. Closing Feb 9th hah. lol. for real though I dont think I would want to live in gunnison. It is one of two the coldest places in the state. It jumps back and forth between frasier and gunnison. I know cold is a byproduct of snow but you dont have to live in that kind of cold.
Gunnison is the coldest because it sits in the bottom of the valley,
so if you live outside of town at a higher elevation it is a little bit warmer.
I hope to live in Pitkin sometime, just not sure how soon?

Used to be it was a good place 20 years ago. Cold is no worse than where your from, but these "idealic" places now tend to draw a % of people that ruin it for most regular folks. All the scum of the "big city" now live in these "quiet" mountain towns and they are very good thiefs. I've heard tell of some that will even steal from charities.... Comon back ya puzzy floggin runt.
