Has anybody thought of talking an 09 AC telescopic steering stem and and cutting the post off and welding up something to mount to the Polaris stem?

The ROX adjustable riser would be much easier.

Richracer is right. Go with a ROX adjustable riser.
The cat telescoping post is junk imo. I had an 09 m8 with it and hated it. Yes, the adjustability was nice, but it was very loose/wobbly due to the poor design. Although I never broke mine, the strength of them has also been an issue. Read up on it in the cat forum if you still want to go that route.
