Tek Vest or Alternatives?

love my tek vest.. definately took a little gear change to accomodate it. i love it though now that i got my clothing figured out. under armor base layer (short or long depending on temps) and a shell.. and if the weather is 20 or above i just ride with a jersey, vest and a bigger jersey over it. love it. also, having the support on your shoulders rocks for wearing a backpack that has a bunch of stuff in it.. once you have it. you cant go without one!

Wearing the tek vest outside/ over your outerwear is WAAYY cooler on the warm days!
just looks outa place!

Wouldn't ride without it, and when you do ride without it.....it really feels like somethings amiss!

Glad to see this thread, I have been wearing a B-Wear for several years. I like the protection, it is warm, but I've gotten to where I just wear a longsleeved wicking shirt the B-Wear and my old Rheima coat. Plenty warm.

I would like to find a better alternative, but I have to tell you that the B-Wear has saved my bacon on several occasions, including a head on with a 3" branch at full throttle and a couple different un-expected dismounts involving two trees, one fence and twice hitting the bars hard enough to bend 'em forward . . . Maybe what I really need is better glasses !! :face-icon-small-ton

Maybe we should just keep you in an open field with no trees or fences. Minnesota perhaps. Dang flatlander. :boxing::face-icon-small-hap

Tek

Tek vest all the way, feel way miserable without it... Kinda like forgetting your helmet. Like others stated they are warm/ hot but with a thin base and a shell it works and layering allows you to stash I'n your backpack if too warm. There are a few variations of the two now too, some lighter and cooler I'm sure.

Second that. ^^^ Just a little extra weight, and even better distributed if it has a waist support. Can't stand wearing a pack without the TekVest on.

Safest would prolly be just to sit on the sled in the shop and throw snoballs into a fan while making BRAPPPPPPPPP BRAPPPPPPP noises ! :face-icon-small-coo

I'd prolly get electricuted . . . . . :face-icon-small-dis

I love my ballistic jersey. Elbow guards and forearm guards for bustin' tree limbs.

Ditto this one! I wear it for dirtbiking as well....works great!! Love the fact that it has forearm, elbow, and shoulder pads. It could use a little more protection in the lower rib/stomach area though....that's the only drawback that i can see.

Check out the six six one core saver. I have been real happy with mine. Comfortable and good kidney protection.
