So ive been curious if anybody has access to or knowledge of what the difference is between properly setup shocks?
Take away the spring, whether it be an Air Spring or Coil over, and take away the compression/rebound adjustments some shocks offer, whats the difference in the internals of the shocks?
Take a properly (custom) valved HPG shock of a Summit X and compare it to properly valved Fox shock. Are the internal components much different? or identical?
Again not taking into account the adjustment features on many aftermarket shocks, whats the difference in how a custom valved HPG shock and a custom valve exit shock work? Why does the exit shock supposedly work better all around?
I can assume some answers but dont know the answers for sure. In the next year I may be in the market for upgrading shocks, but want to know the advantages of getting after market shocks vs revalving the stock shocks on a sled. And why it is worth the extra $ getting aftermarket shocks.
