Tear Down

Is there anything you can think of in the intake components that would have a screw like that??? Console or air box. I dont have mind here with me to look over right now.

do you have the stock intake on it? There are screws holding the plastic cover that would look like that, there are also screws holding the headlight in place that could fall out and go down the intake. Another good reason to put some pet screen over the hole in the intake.

When i get the hood and air intake( its stock ) to the shop Im going to go over it and see if anything came out of it.:tsk:

check the boost box too. I know that mine has at least one screw in it (covered with heat tape). It's the box between the air box and the throttle body.

Just pulled everything off my hood tonight. It's scary how many screws are in there just waiting to fall out into your airbox.

you would think that if it did come out of the hood some where that Polaris would compensate for the repair as it was a design flaw.........

Man I must have hit my head sometime this morning, either that or there is something more in my coffee:face-icon-small-ton

Looks like we all need to follow Guido's advice and put pet screen over the intake opening to keep things from falling in there. Sucks that your engine got killed by a screw but I think the cases will be usable with a little clean up.

Yeah I was talking to IndyDan today, its all going to him. Its out now just as well to get it done right and updated. So then when it goes back in I know what I got.

On that note, the new clutch has to be built up. I run 0-3000 ft, my fat *** is the only thing on it at 240lbs. What is the best setup for me. Clutching to me is like trying to read German, I have never done it and wouldnt know where to start.

Also the new clutch that comes with the new crank will be balanced, should the secondary be sent out too.... Im boxing everything up for shipment and want to make sure it all goes the first time.

Glad you finally got in touch with him. On your clutching, talk to Dan as well and he can tell you exactly what you will need.

Just got done looking at all your photos of the engine. I have my headlight out right now and none of the screws inside it look like the one that killed your engine.
