TApex What to do to Stop Oil blowing out!

Have a Boondocker Gt 2860 Turbo on an 06 Apex running 15-16 lbs boost.

On Long steep climbs I am getting a lot of oil blowing out the breather hose for the motor.

Tried extending the hose clear up to the nose of the sled still have the problem.

Any Ideas?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Just an idea, i know when i have to much oil in my turbo dodge it will blow oil out of the breather tube, same concept so check your oil level im thinking its over filled. you are to warm the sled up then check the oil level kinda like tranny fluid.

Also when you check it you must not screw the cap back in.Just stick the dip stick in the tank and pull it out and check the level:beer;

All boondockers kits on Apex's have this problem if you run over 15 lbs of boost, I still have not found a solution to the problem and boondockers only solution is to run the hose up around the handle bars and then down by the turbo and out of the sled, but then it will spray your sled with oil. Has anyone been able to resolve this problem? And it has nothing to do with to much oil in the tank.

After tearing the motor down for pistons and rods I measured the correct amount of oil per the service manual. It shows way down on the dipstick. If I run it here the blow by is minimal. If I fill it to the full mark it blows out 1/2 quart then quits. I routed a hose to the nose of the sled and quit worrying about it.

Extended my hose clear to the nose and it still blew out quite a bit while I was in a steep climb. I was hoping that getting the hose past the tank in a climb, further to the nose and above the oil tank would correct the problem.

It did not correct the problem.

I do not think I lost anywhere near a half quart but it was still a nice mess, it looks like it came out under pressure.

Yes its coming out under pressure no questions asked. But just like wheeline said the suggested amount of oil for the motor is less than the full mark on your dipstick. I would pm him and go from there.

allot of the other kits run a catch tank like the lightning pro kit gets rid of 99% of the prob.

My catch can cost me 5 cents and got rid of my thirst. I used water bottle with the top cut off.Laugh if you want but it works and you cant see it being stuffed in the nose of the sled. At the end of a two day ride theres only a small amount in there. I have the tank full as far as the dip stick goes as well id rather have more, its like a bigger pan in a drag car. I dont care what the stock tank held more is better.

Where do you find one of these Lightning Pro catch tanks on the internet?

If a guy were to run the hose into a plastic bottle he would still need to allow the bottle to breathe so the pressure could escape without blowing oil out the breather tubes. How do you accomplish this?

I really like the creative ideas would love to see some pictures.

Just use a water bottle and make sure the hose isnt a tight fit into the neck....zip tie in place...at least it keeps the mess contained. You may have to search for the right style of bottle but there are a dozen or so styles. The gap between the neck and hose will allow it to breathe.

I ordered a breater box from lightning pro on the 28th of December and still have not received it, he told me he had a kit for a Apex, but come to find out from his partner, he was trying to modify his breather box for the RX1 to fit on the Apex, so running the hose to the front with a bottle of some sort to catch the oil is the best route to go.

if you are getting excessive oil its from crank case pressure witch means its leaking by your rings, so you have other problems, been there, after I ported my ring lans I never got any blow by even at 25 lbs boost. you rings are shot or your cylinders are out of round or alittle of both.

What kit were you running? I bet it was not a boondocker kit at 25lbs. Boondockers oil tank does not have baffles and it causes problems after you have more then 15lbs of boost, it has nothing to do with the rings.

no it was not a boodocker kit, but its still caused by pressure, I had the same problem with the stock oil resorvoir until I ported the rings, once I got them to seal no more oil.

Mine has done it from day one. It does not seem to be nearly as bad if you run your oil a little down on the stick. If you fill it up to the full mark everytime you ride you will get some oil on a hard pull out of your crankcase vent. I have a BD kit but also know guys running low boost with an Alpine kit that also get oil out of crankcase vent. My Apex when stock even left the airbox bottom wet with oil which is where the stock Apex vents its crankcase.

I had a buddy with the same boondocker kit as I have the had a lot of oil coming out of the crank case breather if he turned it up over 15 lbs of boost, he then took that kit off and put a different kit on with the stock oil tank and no more oil coming out of the breather tube and he was running 20 lbs of boost, so in this case it has nothing to do with the rings, it has to do with the boondocker kit and oil tank.
