Tampico

A little off topic...

What amazes me about Tampico is the fact that the parking lot can be full, and you can often go an hour or 2 without seeing ANYONE:eek::D

any snow reports from saturday?Heading up to Cultus Hole tomorrow for a little film work and riding, wondering how much fresh and what the snow was like?

Pic of my 12 year old from last Sunday on his first "Real" sled.2002 summit with 440 Rotax, 144x2,playin' in the super bowl.

Of course I can't be shown up by my boy,had to jump the road to show the boy I am not an old man yet!

Is there much fresh up ton darland mountain? Is there still snow leaving the snopark?

It snowed here at the house about 3/4 of a mile from the snow park just enough to turn the ground white. It snowed enough to cover the trees last night down to 2500 ft. It is still snowing up high as I type. Supposed to be cold all weekend. This will be the last weekend Vic will be grooming the Ahtanum trail system for the season. He is one of the last to still be grooming. We can thank the late December start for the extended grooming season. He has done a great job up here this year. If you see him up in the groomer, stop by and say thanks'.

Is there much POW on top right now? How much dirt does a guy was to ride from the snow park?

If we see the groomer we will defintely give him a thumbs up!!!

This is pic taken on Tuesday. You be the judge.

So when are they going to plow out to Tree Phones?

It is up to the DNR as to when the road will open up the trucks to Treephones this year. They are really concerned about the road condition during the spring thaw, and want to do what ever it takes to make sure the road does not deteriorate to the point of being unusable. They said they will be closing the road once it gets too muddy for a few days to save the road. It will only be a short temporary closure, so don't get worried that they are trying to keep everybody out of the hills. It costs many $$$$$ to repair the road, and they have other things to spend the money on rather than repairing a road that did not have to get torn up. There are many exciting things going to happen in the Ahtanum area in the near future, and the DNR is the driving force for all of this activity. It will be good for everyone who is a user of this region.

They probably won't plow to Treephones, so not to break up the surface of the road and leave it vulnerable to runoff. If you have any questions for the DNR, contact Don Rasmussen who is the Winter Recreation Representative for this region.

yep we rode up there last weekend. not many pics though.

There was about 8" of new snow on top and maybe 12" down in the tree where the wind blew some in. Tree phones probably had about 2-3" of new.

You are going to be running gravel off and on for the last 1.5 miles.

This was on Friday. Saturday was sunnier and warmer. Sunday may have received a few more inches up high. If I had to guess, 2+ miles of gravel from the berm off the middle fork road. The areas on the road that have snow, the patches are so thin its time to drive up the road. Grooming has ended for the season, right?

That is correct. Grooming is done for the season. Monday was the last night for Vick and his crew.
