Taking the Plunge

Look around in holladay. It adjacent to Murray but not ghetto.
It's where my wife grew up and is a great city for a family.

That's great you're finally taking the plunge.

That would be scary!!

I'll be at the Level 1 joint. Guess it is in Murray, I'm gonna call that a suburb for SLC. Looks like lots of burbs around there on the south side. Any ghetto ones or are they all filled with mormons?

Dude, you're moving to Utah. It's all filled up. Just go about your business and try not to stare and they will leave you alone. J/K:face-icon-small-win
We're in Indiana and I constantly find myself staring at the Amish but in reality they are really staring at us. LMAO
Utah rocks. Just get here and deal with it. I work in Murray also but I'm sure with you being the new guy you'll get a chitty shift.:face-icon-small-dis

My wife wants to know if they have April Fools Day in Utah?

So was this all just a joke at our expense?
I gave you the benefit of the doubt.:face-icon-small-win

You should see the weather today: blizzard-Sun, blizzard-Sun, blizzard-Sun, blizzard-Sun, blizzard-Sun, blizzard-Sun, blizzard-Sun, blizzard-Sun :face-icon-small-hap

Housing in salt lake valley goes like this. Expensive to cheap from North-East to South-West portions of the valley. Dangerous to safe neighborhoods are north-west to south-east portions of the valley. The only dangerous people in the area are the Salt Lake City liberals.....crazy peeps!!:scared:...you'll see what I mean once you are here.

Well, X, if this thread has been just a joke then I'd guess the joke really is on you.

Jacob suggested this was a joke in just the 9th post but everyone nonetheless gave you the benefit of doubt and, I think, actually hoped you were coming out here.

We may all be Utards but we actually like to share one of the most wonderful places in the world with those that are smart enough to "take the plunge" and move here.

I can say what I've said about this being a great place from experience. I've lived in Maine, Greenland, England and Scotland, the middle of the Indian Ocean, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, California, Alaska and Maryland.. year in, year out, Summer, Winter, Spring, and Fall people from all over the world come here to play... We just play.. without the travel..

So, if your wife wondering if we have April Fools Day in Utah is your way of saying that you really don't have the man package necessary to find a job here and suffer the inconvenience of buying "strong" beer at the state store instead of the 7-11 then I'd just have to comment that we've recognized your testosterone problem ever since you posted that photo of the pink hat..

Damnit Chief I was feeling pretty proud on pulling one over on you guys....and then you mentioned the pink hat!!!

Though I stand by it takes real security in who you are to not only let your daughter dress you like that, but to then post it for the SW world to see.

To be honest what my kids have in MN is pretty special as far as grandparents and various opportunities that not many kids anywhere get to have and I could never take them away from that for selfish reasons. But when the last one graduates it's on like donkey kong.

And yes Boss did catch me quick. But I was bored so I asked him to keep it quiet and see how long I could string this out.

I will say I was not shocked by the openness of the Utah folks!

Now if any of you ever make it to MN I owe you beer for being good sports. And don't forget I live 10 minutes from Spring Creek National MX track and have a spare bed and lots of floor space for air mattresses. Not to mention only 4 short hours from some pretty damn good grouse hunting.

X,
you know you wish it was true! You must be bored out of your freakin mind up there.
Poor guy. Keep dreamin':face-icon-small-win

I won't deny that.

But boredom won't last. Ground is almost dry enough for dirt bikes, got the street bike home today (no fun in 30 mph cross winds) and in a few short weeks the water will be soft and skiing and fishing can begin.

X - Kids grow up but it matters what experiences you give them as you grow. I admit that I don't know what you and the kids get up to in your off time but I took mine all over the world and yet the mountains and deserts of Utah, Wyoming and Colorado are where they come back to.. From England, Virginia, and North Carolina..

Grandparents travel - they get the time and the freedom; you'll be amazed how much they'll think of you if you give you kids broader horizons and if the pay is better and the cost of living lower the added oppurtunities. I have a friend who is a PT who left his job in Northern California earning 96K and has taken a job here for only a little less and has a better standard of living.. Think about it..

If you aren't going to move out here don't leave the wife and kids home when you come to ride.. crap, I'll loan you sleds when you bring them so you can have a family ride.. at 10,000 feet..

Don't put it all off until the kids finish school; think of the things they'll miss.

I acknowledge that it takes "being secure in who you are" (sometimes called "balls") to post that photo.. but if you're really secure then take it down and post one of you and your girl doing the daddy daughter dance... you wear the dress.

I know this sounds a little dry and sober but consider that your joke may actually be one of the best ideas you've ever had; neither the kids or grandparents would ever get shortchanged by "taking the plunge."

Well put Chief! It does take guts to pull up roots and set them down in a strange place, and as said...grandparents will travel, it keeps them moving and active and older folks need that! This could be a great thing for your young family.
