tachometer needle sticks

hey guys this is my first post so go ease on me,i just purchased a '05 summit adrenalin and took it out for the first time. it rode fine except when i start it all lights are on and tachometer needle is not moving i have to rev it up a couple of times for it to start working and lights to go off,any thoughts on this problem.

Welcome

Just turn your idle up a bit...too low of an idle = not enough voltage for your system to work...Dino

if that didnt solve the problem it could be your relay. take it and lightly tap it with a hammer and your tach might flicker and work as you hit it. if thats it replace it.

X2 The relay is inside the side panel above the secondary clutch...1500 rpms or so. Dino

Check Napa for an equivilant relay rather than buying one from Doo.....I think the Napa part #is AR 143. Costs like 5 or 6 bucks versus much more at Doo dealer. Search the forum for the specific Napa part number, it's here somewhere.........

i tried the napa one and they are 19 bucks. and i lost all electronics. lights and guages. thought they gave me the wrong one so they checked it and they didnt.

I didnt have to buy one. my tach dont work as well and i found out its not the relay its something else. had the thing apart 100 times and cant figure out the problem. but im glad yours works. ill have to remember that if mine goes out!
