ok, it mite be just a plug, but my tach goes through the motion to the full right then left as soon as moter starts, then it doesnt work,is there a plug that somehow got unplugged, and if so where the heck is it,any info would be great, and also the speedo and trip meter is on kph.how do i switch it back to mph. chris

The speedo sensor is located just in front of your left foot well and is driven off the driveshaft, there is a connector right there you can inspect. Unplug the connector and check for corrosion, and breaks in the wiring.
From there the wires will enter the main harness and eventually through the hood connectors and up into the MFD.
Almost every electrical issue I have had on my 900 was a broken, or rubbed through wire somewhere, or a loose or damaged connector.

Changing from metric to standard measurements on the MFD:
-Press the mode button (top) until you are on a screen that displays a measurement (trip, eng temp)
-Press and hold the mode button until the units change from metric to standard (about 10 seconds)

Good luck! and let us know what you find on the speedo. If it's not just a simple loose connector we can get you pointed in the right direction for further testing.
