Synapse BOV mounting

I've got an old MCXpress setup on my 2008 Nytro (240HP rear mount pictured below) and was wondering how I need to mount the new Synapse BOV I bought. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

I just did the exact same thing. I used the rubber fitting that holds the existing bov and put in a reducer that goes from 1.5 (or what ever it is) to a 1 inch. I got the reducer from a agriculture supplier and it threaded on one side and ribbed on the other cost was about 1.25$ Then i hose clamped a 1 inch hose that I got from NAPA (heater hose I think) then the 1 inch fitting should slide right in. I assume you got the bov with the 1 inch adapters? Changing my header right now so I didnt get a good chance to test the bov. Looks a bit farmish but should work.

with a and b port hooked up in the push postion i as still getting compressor surge, with just b port hooked up the bov would not even open up. The tech I talked too said to try a and b port connected in the push position and if that doesnt work ie. still geting surge then take the preload spring out.

Hopefully have my header back in this weekend then I can find the sweet spot on the BOV.

Tried the sled in pull mode and it was still giving me compressor surge. Ended up taking out the spring and bingo no more compressor surge. Unfortunately I did a couple of longer pulls and it will only make 10lbs. My guess is the BOV is opening. Tried it without the spring in both push or pull mode and same result cant make full boost but no compressor surge.

Looks like we need a different spring. Wonder if thistledoos spring will work with this set up. Same amount of boost so.......?

Anyone else with test results?

I purchased a spring from Thistle for this type of BOV! Will test it here soon and let you know results.
Let us know how you make out with this BOV once you get it working!

I've been running one for a few years. It works great, and is the only factory bov I've bought that is open at idle.

When I pulled the spring out of the BOV, the BOV just stayed open and I could not make more then 10lbs boost. Put the spring back in and so far the only position that semi works is push position with a & b ports and no preload on spring.

Still get some compressor surge. I think a lighter spring would fix the problem. The BOV is releasing but not quick enough thus some surge.

It's on my T-rx1. It's a synapse synchronic with the stock spring. I also have a turbosmart on it too. The synapse is really responsive, but isn't that big. I know that when I put it on that the vacuum lines hook up differently than other bov's and I had to hook up a pressure line off the wastegate. Maybe yours isn't hooked up right?

I was told his spring is different and wont work in this BOV?

Found a lighter spring. Have the preload a few turns in and seems to be working well. Only occasional compressor surge. The trick is to have the spring as light as possible but not so weak that it cant shut the BOV. Need some deep snow testing and longer boost pulls to really test it out. Regardless seems to react very quickly.

Man I love boost. Nothing like 17lbs boost! Feels like 100mph in 2 seconds. :face-icon-small-ton

Anyone else have some testing?

I am not having much luck getting this BOV set up to work the way I want it.

Tried multiple settings and either I get compressor surge because the spring is too tight or its too light and gives me a big boggle on bottom end because I think the BOV is open.

I can not get it to react consistently. I will loosen the spring and the BOV will vent but not every time then I will get some compressor surge. I was getting closer at the end of last trip but I was getting annoyed constantly screwing with it.

I have been using a lighter spring in the push set up as I could not get the BOV to open in the pull set up with the stock spring. That is my next test is to put the bov with the lighter spring at a very light setting and see if the pull set up will work.

Anyone had luck with this BOV ? This BOV was supposed to be super reactive and adjustable but so far I cant get it to work right.

I will call the tech support but they have not been much help.

I could live with some compressor surge but this boggle on the bottom end is incredibly annoying.

Thoughts?

The vacuum line that goes on the stock BOV is attached to where? The wastegate? Maybe that is my problem? I assumed that the original vacuum line would work?

There is two vacuum ports on the back of the bov. Tee them together and hook them up to vacuum. The third nipple on the side tee's in between the boost controller and the wastegate. Mine is open at idle and I didn't mess with it at all from the factory.

Yes I have both ports hooked up to the existing vacuum line.

Do you run in a push or pull mode?

What turbo kit are you running?

Do you have the third port on the side of the bov hooked up to the line that goes from wastegate to boost controller? My Rx-1 kit is an Impulse header with BD intercooler.

i have had this blow-off valve for a couple years, just running it the way it came stock, it always worked perfect here at home (about 2000ft) but in the mountains i get compressor surge, never tried tuning it as i only make a couple trips a year...
