SW Colorado riding... Mancos? Dolores?

Looking for new riding areas closer to new home (Flagstaff) Any one familiar with the areas above Mancos? Where to access, elevation, options, etc...

There's a wide variety of terrain in the "West Mancos" area and after tomorrow's snow, it will be plenty deep. There are some avalanche areas, but they're easily avoidable. Cortez would be the more affordable place to stay and is only 30 minutes to the trailhead.

Think the wife and I are going to hit Molas Pass tomorrow for the first ride of the season (and first ride at all on her newly assembled Sno Pro Lite...)

We're looking forward to checking out Mancos too. I didn't realize the Mancos area trails had any grooming, but it's nice to see that they do!! Thanks!

Thanks! to all who replied and for the info found great snow last weekend. Met some really nice locals on Sunday that showed us around was awesome

Wife and I rode Mancos yesterday. Ended up doing the loop past the tower, along the north edge, over Windy Gap, and back around. Barely any tracks on the back side, but some awesome riding!! There is probably 4' of snow once you get up a ways from the parking lot, especially in the trees.

There again today, and rode part way out with a couple fellas from AZ. You guys? Hope it was good for you! We found a great area that had deep and un-settled snow south of Windy Gap somewhere. I'm going to have to start bringing a GPS so I can lay it onto a map and see where we are getting to!
