Suzuki 4-wheelers

I've got two 2011 suzuki king quad 400s. I used them all summer and they were great-- but now i'm running into a problem. In the winter these damn things are about worthless- they have some sensor or something that wont hardly let them run until they are warmed up. The problem is it takes them about 20 minutes at idle before they will go-- before this they just sputter and have no power.

I realize they did this to protect the engine and not cold seize.... but these are work machines-- and i don't have that kind of time. They get used every day and its getting old. I called the dealer and he said just deal with it because you cant change it (he was polite but that was his only advice)

Any of you know how to bypass this?? They each have around 3000 miles and are off of warranty.... so that doesnt matter. Thanks

Have you thought about an electric oil pan heater to help warm it up for a few hours before starting. You can also find in-line heaters that install in your coolant line (just like a block heater in an automobile). Yamaha makes them for their sleds, they will work on a ATV also. I live in Alaska, I know what you are saying about a cold ATV at start up.

I thought about putting a heater on it... but would prefer to just fix it. I've got 2 other king quads (earlier models) that don't have that sensor-- and they both have over 20,000 miles on them-- so i don't think they need it. Also, I use them all over and don't always have a plug in.

could you locate the particular sensor and see if you can bypass it? connect the wires or something.

That was my first thought.... and when I called the dealer I figured he would tell me how to do this. That's why it surprised me when he said it can't be done (not that it shouldn't). But im still convinced it can.... and i'm going to experiment with it. I just figured with how many of them have been sold that someone would have already done it-- but with a little time I'm pretty sure i'll get it.
