Any more reports out there for reworked Walker Evans on the Pro? Not interested in a re-work if the longevity is still poor. Also concerned about the 1/2" shafts bending with increased compression damping. My stock suspension is just not working for my needs. Also thinking about Evol 3's from Carls for the front- I am sure someone has an opinion on those.. I do like the excellent bottoming resistance of an air shock but haven't had them since my old M sled in '05. Hopefully there small bump compliance is better now. Have had Exits before (and they were good) but not wild about true triple rate springs for anything other than XC riding/racing.

I need more bottoming resistance as well as compliance on the small junk.

Im a big guy and in the same boat. Im adding the raptor ripple rates 10wt fluid and replacing the largest 2 shims on the high speed compression stack with thicker shims. I would just blow through the stroke on my stock shocks and had to rely on tons of pre-load to keep from bottoming. I want to maintain a plush initial ride but soak up jumps and whooped out trails. hopefully its a step in the right direction and don't bend a shaft. oh well if I do I'll just have to upgrade :)

Crazy motocross bike have spring for every 10lbs of rider weight and we only get a firm or soft on a sled. exits or fox would be ideal but i think the WE's could work good too.

I had my Walker Evans shocks re-valved by Tom's Snowmobile. He updated them with Fox Shafts, and internal parts. He can valve them how ever you like. I have been really happy with mine.

Tom's DOES do great work!!

One of the biggest things is that the mineral base shock oil (red color from Walker) wears out quickly in these shocks...and they need to be serviced after a season or 800miles...sometimes sooner for heavy riders on really whooped out riding.

Some people have rock chips in their shock shafts... and other issues.

Get them serviced and use a good 5W Full synthetic shock oil like Amsoil shock therapy (Thanks TRS!).

Also...TRS posted up some good shock valving recomendations.

Gas Shock Repair in Idaho Falls has a quick turn around time and can do all the valving changes for great prices... usually about $30 per shock for service, revalve and Synth fluid.

The synth fluid will last longer and give more consistent performance from the research I have done.

Grizzly Motorsports has a killer revalve for the stock shocks. If i didn't have evol's they'd do mine for me. I'm 210lbs and aggressive and bottom my sled out constantly. The evol's have come a LONG way since you had them. I had the original floats years ago and the new stuff is in a different league.

210? What the heck happened :face-icon-small-win

My WEs were revalved by Carl's. I am 220 without any gear, boots, pack, etc. They work very well and are much less expensive than buying new shocks. I run a heavier spring on the rear shock too. I used to use Zero Pros which I loved and the revalved WE's work just as well as they should since they are running Fox internals.

Hey MH do you have a link to TRS's valve recommendations ?

I thought I had rock chips on my shafts also but it turns out the factory jounce bumper allowed moisture to pit out and rust my shafts. Polaris is currently covering them under warranty. Seemed like it was a common problem on left over sleds that sat in the crate. Would never have noticed them if i wasn't tinkering. Both fronts and my rear track shock had the pitting. Lower on the shaft right where the bumper would have sat.

Thanks !
