Sunday Ride in the fresh snow

Anyone riding stampede on sunday or anywhere somewhat close to ellensburg? Let me know I'm looking forward to ride some of this new snow. Happy new years everyone

There is a large group of us heading to Stampede in the AM. Probably be there around 945. Look for the Phatties Super Shop trailer.

Snow is in bad shape--especially below 4200' feet and changes depending on the area.

Looks like Stampede rained all the way to the top.

Gold Creek--top 500' should be good--the rest wet.

Salmon la Sac--some fresh above 4000'--But watch the avy danger.

Riding from Kachess to salmon la sac area--saw alot of fracture's in the snow--BIG fractures--as long as 200' and as wide as 4 inches--We had to modify where we were planning on going for our ride because of the conditions--just watch--

It started raining last night about 6:00 and POURED all night through most of today--At 6:00 tonight the pass was 37 degrees and stampede was at 35 degrees--colder east--but still real warm.

Just a update--Hoping for better snow tomorrow for all!!

H20SKE...

We saw some fractures at Gold Creek on the 31st, that was before the rains. That was on the side of the trail, bad sign of what's on the big hills, spooky to see 100s feet of a single crack run. Some is on the vid I posted.

was up at stampede loaded up and came home, had a good ride friday, a sloppy mess saturday

Left the Crystal Springs Snow Park at 9 am under a light mist of rain. Started raining at the top of Stampede under the power lines, headed south towards the radio towers, gaining some elevation, the precipitation turned into sleet. Headed north towards lost lake and up to cottonwood lake and mirror lake. Pretty foggy up at the lakes. Both lakes were frozen over with about a foot and a half of new heavy snow on both frozen over lakes. It made for some pretty good riding on both lakes. When are we going to get some decent snow and weather?....... 2011?

Rode Gold Creek Sat. Wet heavy snow no matter what elevation. So heavy that I am sore from plowing the skis thru it. I set off a small slide traversing a very small slope ..only 20-30 feet verticle and maybe 40ft at best horizontal on a small hillside...about 20 maybe 25 deg. incline. it dropped about one foot and had cracks on the upper areas that didnt break. Too small to be called an avy..but it showed what could be in store.
